Wouldn't it be easier if they just told the truth? I can forgive someone a mistake if they are honest about it, but then if they just make it worse by LYING, I can't trust them after that. Girls: your opinions? Guys: your honest insight?

They lie out of fear: fear of losing you. The man I am with now tells me things sometimes that I wish he wouldn't. We have been together 4 years and just last week he told me that he had been with 2 other women during our first year. I was hurt and upset and surprised, and when I asked him why he told me this, he said he thought I "had a right to know". Before a person can be totally truthful, I think they need to feel totally accepted. Does that make sense? If you think by telling someone the truth, that they will turn on you, hit you, yell at you etc. it's easier to lie. If they continue to lie, even after they are "busted" then I'd say they are just plain stupid!

I'll tell you my opinion, and i DO have some experience with this.
1) They are hedging their bets. If they tell the truth, you might just leave them. If they lie, there is an outside chance you might stay just because "you love them and want to trust them" and not knowing the truth gives you that tiny little chance (very tiny) that they were telling the truth. win win situation for them. they still have a chance at keeping one of the women. and god knows a lot of guys can't be without a woman to take care of them
2) guys (and some women, don't get me wrong) don't like to be called on the carpet - they want to have the upper hand. You know, Father knows best....

Men AND women lie because I think it's instinct, you can't always know and understand human behaviour...People lie for different reasons, everyone works differently.. Some people might not value trust like some others do, and some people might not give a crap about someone's feelings.. People are all different and we all work differently inside...
But i think there's a difference between lying and fibbing... fibbing is, "did you break my so-and-so" no.. thats a fib..
"did my friend give you a bj" No...thats a lie...

Being a musician and on stage and meetig and being with many women, I find the truth is more painfill than a small whte lie especially if the lied about encounter was just casual and the thruth would only spoil the "real thing" , especially if it was her sister !!

It's like being guilty but pleading innocent in court. You at least have a chance of winning because of "reasonable doubt". I wouldn't trust them, if you catch them once, they have been having a good time for a long time.

Are you sure you are talking about men? Sounds liek an immature act to me, more like a child {boy}.....We are stupid when child....but a real man would stand up and say..."Damn, I screwed up....please forgive me" or whatever would fit the situation....if he is lying, there may be more to it, but lies comes from children, not men, in general

Yes, it would be easier to be honest in the long run. But, some guys its too difficult for them. Why don't you move on from this guy then if he is causing you too much pain??

I think they dont have any other option left...only 5% gals would try to understand or lesson to the truth....so telling lie is better option..atleast u can save the relation this way...

exactly! i seriously hate that. i always tell my boyfriend if he cheats on me id understand more if he told me the truth. its forgivable then. but if he lied and i found out some other way i would seriously be naffed off and i couldnt trust them again

Because they can and to be honest Its our fault most of the time cause we allow it to by believing there dumb lies and believe me there is alot of woman who know there man is cheating and the pretend like they cant see it
