My cat refuses to wash himself. I brush him regularly, but he still get dreadlocks that I must cut off with scissors. I also use those dry bathing wipes from time to time because putting him in the tub is not an option, he goes nuts. Any ideas?

If you get him to wash himself, be prepared for hairballs! They're icky!

Butter also works well, smear it on his paws and he'll be washing for an hour! On the other hand, your cat may not be washing for other reasons that a quick fix will not solve. You sounds like you're doing good anyways, long haired cats don't wash themselves as much as shorthair and they're a bugger to look after. We always had to cut the tangles out of our cats coat. Keep up with the brushing! You're obviously doing such a good job, he doesn't need to wash himself!

Cook 5 pounds of bacon. Save the grease. Once the grease cools smear it all over your cat. It will be grooming itself in no time.

generally a happy cat will groom himself or her self - or if hes a long hair it may just be to much and he needs your help - my black and white will let you brush him all day my tiger will only let me brush her a few times and shes done.
