Gloomy weather sometimes makes us sentimental. Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton appeal to the sentimental heart. Loves lost. Loves never known. Unquenchable, dangerous loves. Trains rolling toward and away from people.

These are things heavy metal music can't do justice to.

Hmm, I am studying Johnny Cash for the second time with my mom this week. My guess is because a rainstorm connotes a less-than-perfect weather pattern, like a less-than-perfect life, and we are all traveling through life. I don't know the train trip you are referring to, but I guess traveling on the train is going to bring back memories of a former era.

When I am really in the dumps, I listen to Dolly's version of peace train, with Ladysmith Black Mumbasa.

Awesome.

I feel suddenly enormously better.

Well most country songs are quite poetic when it comes to heartache and facts of life. Sometimes the senitment in it all brings up inner emotions that evoke memories. Remembering is good...it helps you heal.

Some of their songs send a tingle down my spine, just as love sends a tingle through my heart and soul.
