It's all matter how comfortable you are wearing what you want. Next time just say to ur budy there, give me a heads up that it'll be slightly more than casual date or it's somthing pretty superduper ya got surprized weather outdoors or indoors-so ya can dress climatically with what you think the surprize may-be. In the end it's ur call on what you want to wear no matter what the occasion be or not be-cause he's going to love you for who u are I belive and not for what you wear.all the best to you and ur budy.

Peopel in case you forget, we do live in the real world and certainly you should respect his wishes. We cant just go out and do and wear whatever we want to. If a certain evening has been planned then you dress accordingly. In a relationship you strive to be an equal and please the other party not just go down your own path and say dont let him control you do whatever you want.
Guys, always beware of women who use the control line-you might want to turn and run

You have to dress the part.. if the date was meant to be formal.. then you should have dress appropriately.. but then again if that's who you are.. (maybe your not into being formal) then you need to let him know this.. so he can decide if he's OK with that.. or decides the two of you aren't right for each other.. or at least so he can change what he had planned out for the date..

Since he did inform you of what you should have worn, yes dear you should have worn the dress. He had something planed and you should have went along with whatever he said. I would have worn the dress and had a gift for him on the side. Now make up for it and go get him a nice gift for going out his way .

No, if he wanted you to wear something sexy, he should have told you why, and then let you make a decision....if it were the first date, how did he know what dresses you had? He is either very controlling, and you may want to think about that....or he is way to gay......having to ahve everything match jsut perfectly? Oh Puhleese!!!

You shouldnt let anybody tell you how to dress but my bf took me out on a date once and he told me to dress fancy. Im glad he did because if he didnt tell me that i would of looked out of place where we went. If you went on the date and didnt feel out of place then no, you shouldnt of worn the freaken sexy dress. lol

No the guy can't be your mom. If you think the sexy dress is to much for a first date then don't where it. This guy has no bussiness loving someone like you if he doesn't think your grownup enough to make your own choices then he is not right for you. Tell him to respect your choices or forget the relationship.

This sounds a little on the controlling side to me. Be careful. Has there been a 2 or 3 date??? Again, be careful.

If he can't respect what you like then you may have a problem, however, for something like that, he had something planned so ya, you should have worn the dress.
