Lots of funny answers here, but seriously....No. I have 4 kids..all honor roll students and very respectful and I have never done the bare bottom spanking. A few swats on the butt, a lot of time out and even more communication.

There are a few situations Ive been in where a little light spanking did no harm!

Im guessing you meant in parenting and not the bedroom / dungeon?

I think a parent should have the right to bring up and control their child however they see fit, but should face the concequences if it causes injury or harm.

I heard of a woman who spanked her child with a belt right in the principal's office. His reply was...I knew you'd take care of this!

if your talking about disciplining kids.. bare bottom is not acceptable.. it could be considered sexual abuse.. a layer a fabric doesn't really do much to pad the spanking and make it hurt less.. do not make a child expose there bare bottoms to you..

I am sure that it is used, but it should be banned, it is unacceptable. In no way should a parent hit a child, not even soft.
There are other ways to tell a child that something is wrong.

i still do it.thats the ONLY place a child should be hit in my opinion.spanking them with their clothes on isnt doing anything but showing them they can do what they want and fake you out into believing they learned their lesson
