I'd say patience and trust get you nothing but boredom, depression and being frustrated.
Try to solve your problems. You didn't specify them but get help! Talk to someone about it. Can't be worse than ending up as an alcoholic. Talk to your parents. Apologize to people you have hurt. If you owe someone money talk to them about paying it back and needing time. If you lost your job keep on searching. Don't spend your day drinking. If your boyfriend left you and you're depressed because of this go to the gym and work-out. You'll be distracted and get to know new people.
YOU need to get active. Other people might have ideas of how to solve your problems.

Go to an AA meeting. Sit up front and really listen. Keep an open mind and pick up on how it makes you feel. Identify with the person who is speaking. If it's not your story that's okay. As you continue this process you will know that you are not alone. You can do it. You already are on your way, you asked for help because you can't do it all yourself. We are not strong enough alone but together we can. Depend on God to always guide you through each day. Remember you don't have to drink TODAY. Give it a try.

First, you are not alone! Many people go through periods of time like you describe. For some is will pass and things become pretty normal again. For others we need to get some help through the mental health community. There are some great people who want to help, and some good drugs that will take that feeling of hopelessness away.
It is good that you are reaching out to see what you can do! Reaching out to a professional serve you better!

Sorry to say all problems do not resolve themselves without behavior change. Much as you may not like to do it, get in touch with an AA group in your area for your age. Read their material and "if the shoe fits, wear it." It will fit but you may not wish to believe that yet. AA has the best record treating the sort of problem you describe of ANY organization.

Get to an AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meeting.
Perhaps you don't believe you are actually an alcoholic, but if you turn to drink to regularly escape our life...you have a problem with drinking.
Facing your life (and this problem) instead of running to ANYTHING to numb yourself will be a first step to getting your life back to on a positive path.

Pray to God. Read Bible regularly. Repent for your sins. If you follow this, you will stop drinking. Face the problem. God will show you a way.
