The most expensive Whiskey is a rare Islay Malt that sells at £450 per single measure (25cl) approx. $700.
That would make a 1 litre bottle worth a staggering £18000!

without more definition to the question the general answer is a rare Scottish single malt. Regular single malts retail for upwards of $30 a bottle, but recently saw an old rare Islay malt for $1500. There are definitely more expensive bottles around.

According to one site.. £47,000 or about US$86,000 for a single bottle... that better be some damned good whiskey! But it went for a good cause...
Another site said one bottle of whiskey for US$58,000. He drank it with some very lucky friends! It was one of only "12 Dalmore 62 Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky" made in 1942.
Those would be among the records for actual purchases price.. but there is another bottle up for sale that has not been sold yet for a mere £100,000! (US$183,000!) The last known surviving bottle from the Nun's Island Distillery in Galway... now I know wonder my friends call whiskey "holy water" :P
Hmmm... maybe if I won the powerball.... ah heck with it.. for now I will be content with my $42 bottle of Jack Daniels Single Barrel :))

I saw one in Edinburgh once and it was selling at £6000. There must be more expensive ones though. As distilleries close down the the last of their whisky gets drunk it makes the ones left more rare and therefore more expensive.

I don't know what the most expensive would be, but the STRONGEST I've ever seen is Booker Noe. It's over 100 proof.
Hint - if you do a shot of it, sip it SLOWLY.
