My bf and I are trying for a baby, and so not using protection etc...

I usually have very regular periods, but I am now 2 weeks late. It is really unusual for me.

I went to the doctors, and had 1 negative pregnancy test, then did another one at home a few days later, which was also negative.

I've been having abdominal pains, and lower back ache, similar to period pains. This has been going on for 3 weeks, but I've had no bleeding at all.

The doctor told me to go back in a month if I still haven't had my period, but that sounds like quite a long time.

My bf suggested I go to the emergency department at the hospital, but that seems a bit extreme.

Can anyone help?

Ectopic pregnancies can be life threatening. It is possible to have a negative preg test and have an ectopic pregnancy, was the preg test the dr did a blood test? They have a lower rate of false negatives.

I would suggest you get your doctor to definitively rule out an ectopic pregnancy (usually by way of a laparoscopy), and if s/he is not willing to do that, find another dr or go to the emergency department. A month is too long to wait.

If the pains get worse quickly or get sharp, you faint or feel faint, or you have pains in your shoulder get yourself to the ER, as there may be a fallopian tube rupture.

Good luck.

I had an ectopic pregnancy 3 years ago - same symptoms. Go see another OB Gyne and get a more detailed ultra sound.

I have also heard that you bleed really bad, not just having pains, which I also heard are constant and progress rapidly
