do u mean the best way to get a baby to sleep right through the night is to give it a spoon of baby cereal every evening before bed and you have done this from one day old? - my opinion - i wouldnt give my baby anything solids until about 3/4 months, babys wake up through the night its life! they need their ongoing feeds throughout the night, feeding a baby solids,e ven though it may be baby cereal from birth is not RECOMMENDED as it can damamge a babys kidneys , etc that are still forming/growing, this is what has always been enforced to me by doctors, midwifes and family. wot does everyone else think?

Baby Cereal isn't good on a newborns digestive system. I know it's hard to get up in the middle of the night, but the baby only needs milk. All my babies slept through the night by about 4 months along. A couple them were earlier. Get him or her on a good schedule. Babies feel secure this way. Try this: Feed them, play time, nap time, feed them, play time, nap time all over and over.

It doesn't work on all baby's. I did that with my son (when he was 3 months old) and he didn't sleep through the night until 5 months. My son was just a very hungry baby. I had to stop breastfeeding because I could not produce enough milk to keep him satisfied. Don't be in such a hurry. Enjoy these moments alone in the middle of the night with your baby. You only get to do it once in their lifetime.

This was more of a statement & it's not always true. My son's pediatrician told me to mix rice cereal in his bottles when he was just a little over a month old because he couldn't keep my breast milk down & he woke up every 2 hours or less still...Now he is almost 5 month & on formula & he eats A WHOLE BOWL of rice cereal or oatmeal before along with 3 ounces of formula & he STILL wakes up at least every 3 hours.

The scientific evidence supports the finding that early introduction of solids, and cereal at birth certainly is early, leads to childhood and adult obesity and a very high incidence of allergies.

It may help them sleep through the night or it may not. But are you sure you want your child to grow up fat and wheezing?

I never understand what people have against keepign their babies with them at night, and breast feeding them. You will not strangle or suffocate your baby unless you are drugged or drunk. For centuries we sleep with our babies near us, and now we don't. I did, and I had a content wel fed baby on mothers milk - who slept through the night, fed in her sleep and was happy
