"I just gave up"
"I began to think"
"I don't believe"
"I, I, I"
why is apathy so strong in them?

I've read the "apathy" in some other AA answers, maybe they're not you. that also makes me wonder why are you not united in thought and idea except for one thing, your lack of faith in God, or a Super Being whatever.
Philip, thanks for pointing out "egoism". And, come on, we're not thinking on the same context of "I". Christians say "I" with reference to a higher Authority. AA's "I" seem to refer to the Self.

I believe that Athieists and Angostics are really seeking for the truth, and in putting their point of view forward, hope that they will be convinced otherwise. They would never admit to this of course, but God has set eternity in the heart of man!

Atheist = A Theist

What you seem to be accusing agnostics and atheists (not the same thing, btw) of isn't apathy, it's egoism. But then Christians, and most other believers, use the word 'I' pretty frequently too:

"I believe in God"
"I have been born again"
"I hate homosexuals"
etc, etc

And if you really think that "I just gave up" and "I began to think" are "saying the same thing", maybe you should try doing a little thinking too.

Atheism is purely the absence of theism. All that atheist potential is 'no longer theist'. each and every individual who's sane and person-pleasant and has concept about what should be popular about hypothetical deities is agnostic. Sir Thomas Henry Huxley coined the words agnostic and agnosticism and wrote appreciably and eloquently on what he meant by technique of those words. His agnostic arguments are a logical and moral defence of his atheism. you should study what he wrote. Now, if you're making up your own definition for words, then we may be able to't be to blame for attempting to appreciate you. edit: thanks for the edit. we are lots closer in this than I first realized. I mistook your charges on your own suggestions. Sorry. -- Regards, John Popelish

I don't consider myself apathetic. I have been a christian and no I never believed.. my mother took me to church for years and I never bought into it. I used to drive the Sunday school teacher nuts because they couldn't answer my questions and I never accepted because the christian deity wished it to be so. I was also an eclectic wiccan for many years and the last few years even though I have still said I was wiccan I really have been moving away from religion totally. As of right now I am in reevaluation mode; if I was apathetic I would just take what was handed to me and be satisfied with that.

If you don't question, you don't learn. If you don't learn you become a stagnant individual.

That's not apathy at all - I hope that there is nothing important in my life that I am apathetic about. I have a million passions, a million things that I think are worth fighting for. God is not one of them. Why would you think that those are apathetic actions, choices or decisions?

It seems to me that 'submission' to the will of God is an apathetic concept.

I beg your pardon, that's is outrageous...and to think most Christians are moaning that we are too active and wish we wouldn't visit Religion & Spirituality as if only those who are pro supernatural stuff are allowed here.

It took years to overcome the religious conditioning I received as a kid and you have the nerve to call me apathetic...I hope your smug apathy and blind faith doesn't leave you controlled by your religious leader puppet masters for the rest of your life.

maybe Agnostics and Atheists realized the logical flaw of religion and god and are voicing their independent thoughts to everyone and declaring that "I" woke up to reason..

A question for theists is Why do they feel the need to convert everyone who is a non-believer? Does misery love company?
Or better yet why haven't people woken up to the realization that god is man made and that religion is nothing more than a tool at exploiting the ignorance of man-kind

I think you are confused between an atheist and an agnostic. they follow different schools of thought. guess, you should take a peek at the dictionary.
if you don't give importance to "I', then you can probably never know God. You are a part of God, and thats the closest you have come to God...so respect the "I" in you and your journey to Him will become easier. Who says you have to give up your Self to know God....its the other way round....Self realisation leads to God.

CLOSED THIER EYES
Mt 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Mt 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Mt 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Joh 12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
Joh 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

Ac 28:26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
Ac 28:27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Ro 11:7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
Ro 11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

Ro 11:10 Let their eyes be darkened that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

1. I've never said any of those things. I have never believed.

2. Apathetic? The wording of your question makes me wonder if you know what the word means. Reread edsawyer's answer.
