11 answers and not 1 of them is close!!! Wow! HIV is relatively weak, if we take the most dangerous sexual act(unprotected receptive anal sex) the per risk act is 50 for 10 000 exposures. With that said though, over 15 000 people are infected everyday!!!! That is a lot of new infections, think about it 105 000 people infected every week. There are a variety of factors that are far too scientific for on here as to why people get exposed but not infected. I suggest that you talk to a Doctor about your questions as this site is not a substitute for a medical professional. Also, if you don't want to be part of the 40 million people infected with HIV/AIDS, wrap it up.

The time line for being exposed and showing signs of the infection can sometimes be years. You may fight off the virus, if you are lucky or had a minimal exposure.( Say like a fingerstick that didn't draw blood, from a needle. ) If you have sex with an HIV partner, you stand a much greater chance of getting the disease. While you may have measurable blood changes, within a year, it could be much longer before you begin to get noticable symptoms. If you think you have had an exposure, immediately get a test. It won't show if you just got HIV, but it establishes that you are initially negative. Repeat the test in 6 months. If you get a negative then, consider repeating in 6 months again and then yearly for at least 5 years. It buys peace of mind or puts you on track to find treatment. Treatment has come a long way in just 10 years. Above all, know that you can infect others and use condoms faithfully. It's a pretty scary thought, but knowing and acting responsibily can save lives.

positive video. i imagine extra people might want to computer screen stuff like this. besides the actuality that prejudice is the most important maximum stressful sickness of all, fed by using overgrowing lack of expertise. because people will factor at someone with HIV and manage them like they're airborne dirt and dirt on their shoe. I also imagine that it isn't a question of race. such issues as that are only taking section in into the bias activity further. they ought to stop attempting to come back up with poles as to which race has the most AIDS and do extra to surely help those with HIV and AIDS...

Hello,
It is just luck, to me i think. I know...some people who are drug users and have used needles shared by hiv people but they haven't contracted the disease. It is remarkable but that dosen't mean that they are immune from getting it.
Nothing is ever certain in this life, so anything can happen. There are a huge number of people who share infected needles and have sex but don't contract the disease and they are some who do.
Hope that helps.

because AIDs is NOT repeat NOT "caused" by the so called HIV virus- read the book "Inventing the AIDs Virus" by Peter Duesberg, and you may want to look at his website-
http://www.duesberg.com/
the major pharmaceutical companies are making a fortune murdering people and nobody knows about it- AZT is a major cause of death among AIDs patients, and big pharma is getting rich with it.

It depends on the type of contact with the HIV/Aids patient.
Here's a good site that has reliable information: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/pubs/facts/transmission.htm
