To globilize simply means unify the world but this is unlikely to take place for years to come as there are so many factions in so many places that such an attempt would fail. We attempted twice before; the League of Nations and now with the United Nations but both are/were unsuccessful at accomplishing such an effort. To achieve such a miracle would require that nations forfeit their cultures to a degree such as the hill tribes of Myanmar would have to give up the neck rings on the women, and even tattooing might fall by the way and other customs unique to their culture to comply with the majority. Few people would agree to such at this time, but as time moves on and with more inter-marriages, we will find more common ground and then we could achieve such harmony. Such a global community would require leadership and with the UN, we have seen that even with minority leaders, the policies are dictated by the larger countries and the big countries are similar to spoiled children by with-holding their financial support until they get their way. It is more likely that a global currency might occur before anything else, such as the Eurodollar, and this would be a step towards globalization. However, until there is a blending of races and acceptance of an earthly culture, it is difficult to imagine Canada sharing much in common with Botswana or the Jews accepting brotherhood with the Arabic nations.

One bad effect of globalization is multi-national corporations who have no loyalty to any one country and search for the poorest, most desperate, workers they can find. Hali-Burton recently decided that Iraq was too dangerous and they pulled out, despite the huge amounts of money that Bush was throwing at them. They saw a situation where they would loose money, so they took off.

To answer your second question.
Whether it's bad or not depends on how you feel about loosing your individual identity. Some people fear it, others don't seem to mind.
