Even with best quality jpg, a 5MP camera usually creates files no larger than 2MB. That gives you at least 250 pictures on a 512MB card.
For reference, my 8MP Coolpix used to make 2.5MB jpg files and 12MB raw files. On the other hand, my friend's 4MP Kodak makes files under 1MB at best quality!
If you want the exact numbers for your camera, perhaps the manufacturer's website can tell you. Or see if www.dpreview.com lists your camera.

Approx 100, this can vary from the complexity,resoolution and the size of the photo. Reduce the quality or size and get a lot more on it

Depends what quality (i.e. size) of image you're taking.............
