If what is being reported is inaccurate, you have the right to demand correction. If the credit bureaus cannot correct the information within the time allowed, by law, they must delete the account.
Go to the site I've listed and do some reading in the newbie forum and then in the credit forum. Learn your rights and learn how to use them.
It is a "free" do it yourself credit repair site.

It takes time, try to stay in the black in your current account.
Ring all companies you have card/loans with, explain you are struggling with money and they will help you. They should be able to lower payments each month to something affordable. This way you can keep on top of things a bit better, your credit rating will show you are paying things off regularly and it will slowly improve. ask them for a year free of interest and charges to help you bring balances down.
You cant really change your file, its something you have to work at yourself. Ring your bank and ask them to hold off interest and charges on your current account for 6 months or so.
Ive done the above and am slowly paying things off.
Whereas before I couldnt get credit for a new mobile, Ive just gone and taken out a new contract so obviously my credit has improved slightly.

Only if it is wrong. You can behave better and get some more good data on there, but that takes time. That's why lenders check credit files!

If you have a bad record, you could contact the individual companies that have recorded the details, and plead poverty at the time and request that they make an amendment. Failing that, you could pay off the debts, and it too is registered as a satisfaction.
