Here's what you need to tell them:

1. Treat fever with paracetamol or ibupofen but NOT ASPIRIN.
2. Stgay well hydrated- some of the deaths were dehydration. Anyone with access to water and ORS need not die that way.
3. If they could be pregnant, get a pregnancy test- it may be passed to the fetus.
4. For severe joint pains use paracetamol (not aspirin) and chloroquine.
5. mosquito precautions are all that is needed- it does not pass from person to person.

Sorry i cannot give you professional advice..
Having gone through dengue 2 months ago.. All i can say is that you should not prescribe medication that camouflages the 'on and off' fever.. and have regular FBC's to track the platelet count.. the lower it gets the more the IV treatment - if i'm not mistaken it's half-normal / normal saline that's used through IV. There's also a dengue antibody test (blood test) that has to be conducted after 7 days.

I was under a lot of multi vitamin tabs after i was discharged from the hospital.. and while in the hospital.. asked to drink a lot of fluid and have a lot of fruits.

Hope my little experience helps you in anyway.. All the best...

FROM wikipedia

The mainstay of treatment is supportive therapy. The patient is encouraged to keep up oral intake, especially of oral fluids. If the patient is unable to maintain oral intake, supplementation with intravenous fluids may be necessary to prevent dehydration and significant hemoconcentration. A platelet transfusion is rarely indicated if the platelet level drops significantly or if there is significant bleeding.
