As said by Metallica: "Send me money, send me green, heaven you will meet, make a contribution and you'll get the better seat."
I don't know if a box is the first thing you see in churches, but donations, as far as I know that is the only way they can continue to provide a place to worship and all the stuff that goes along with it.

Sometimes, especially if you walk in during the offering time. At my church those things remain hidden (offering box and plates) until it is time to give our tithe. And yes it is up to you to give your tithe or not...but like some others have said...churches need money to run, they have bills too. Oh, and the ministers usually do not make much money. I know this one for sure, my boyfriend is a minister and our church does not pay him or the pastor. They have to have real jobs, all the money donated to the church pays the bills, then it buys food and supplies for the soup kitchen it runs.

The church needs money to carry out the work they are charged with. If it hurts you to help the widowed or poor, or it bothers you to keep the lights and a/c running at church, stay home and go to electronic church.

No it is not, but I see your point in a way Christians are told to tithe 10% and most do it through their chuches. There are other ways feed a homeless person support a soup kitchen volunteer time and money to build homes for the homeless or poor.

Your point being?...
Sounds like you're about to lodge a complaint about churches and their free will offering. Everything costs money. It isn't cheap running a church.

First, i could desire to assert i'm sorry to hearken to approximately your undertaking! that is unhappy that a youthful lady could do some thing like that. Now, the thank you to clean up your undertaking. i've got discovered that girls no count whose friends with who, do no longer concepts stirring up slightly drama! If i'm incorrect, be at liberty to end me. So the final thank you to clean up your undertaking is to tell her which you are able to't be friends with somebody who you are able to no longer have faith to do the final component whilst your no longer finding. this could convey approximately subjects between you and her, yet she'll be conscious of which you be conscious of what she did. If she ask what you mean, only clarify to her. If she is a competent chum, she'll apoligize and grant some style of charge, be it enjoyed ones help/changing the money. If she's no longer too prepared on you when you tell her this, then you definately'll want a controversy. the only thank you to truly restore this difficulty is to confront her, you do no longer want her thinking your nonetheless friends, letting her have a grab at you cash lower back. i'm sorry i could no longer help as much as i could have enjoyed to.. no longer somewhat my understanding.. besides the undeniable fact that it style of feels the only good way. good luck!

sorry you have had that experience. Don't let that experience ruin what God wants to do with you. he has a gift that is better than all gifts.
Not all churches are like that. I will pray you will find a good church and that you will recieve the gift that is yours.
God Bless

If it is not the first thing you see, it certainly is the most importantant thing the church wants you to see. That is part of the scare tactic of religion, that is how they get your money.

in my opinion...
a box for free will offerings is much more appealing than having a 'plate' publicly passed in front of you in expectation of you putting money in it. sometimes the collection plates get passed more than once in a service.
with a box -- u can just discreetly donate what u like and if u like

depends on the church. If that's the case for your church, go to a different one.
