The guy who runs the takeaway over the road always puts about half an inch of cheese on top of the toppings, whereas we like to have our toppings on top. That's why they're called "toppings".
So what's the majority verdict out there - on top, or underneath?
Also - what's your favourite pizza, while you're at it?

i was a manager at pizza hut for a year and a half and how you make a pizza is crust, sauce, 1 cup of cheese, toppings then antoher cup of cheese....except if it is only pepperoni, then it is all the cheese then the pepperonis.....the logic behind it is that the bottom layer holds the base toppings where the top layer of cheese holds all the toppings on as well as holds the pizza together a bit better.

I would say on top. I hate it when someone orders a pizza and there's on there that I don't like, but I can't pick anything off because it's underneath the cheese. Really annoying.
I like feta cheese, black olives and mushrooms on my pizza.

Well look at it this way, anything on top of a pizza crust is a topping :) They put cheese on top so your veggies are covered. You can order your pizza the way you like it. I myself prefer cheese after the sauce and on top of the other ingredients.

umm i hate it when the toppings r underneath cause my family like mushrooms and i dont soo i have to spent 5 mins taking them out it would be easier if they were on top.... my favorite is EXTRA cheese (lots and lots) with ground beef and pinnapple Pizza hut pan pizza

Underneath, to help hold them on. I like a good hamburger and onion pizza with EXTRA cheese.

I like the cheese on top cause it helps to hold everything together and keeps it all super hot! Don't ya just love it when you take a bite and a big slab of hot bubbling pepperoni sticks to your bottom lip, scalding it and making it 10 times bigger! That's one way to have big lips! (very sexy)!!!!!

i like the toppings on top that way they get a little bit crispy and are not all soggy being under the cheese.

cheese under, it doesn't get over done and the fat in the cheese gets the chance to meld with the vegetable that are releasing their flavor as they cook
