Firstly, i apologise for every guy that has done this to you, i cant really imagine how it made you feel, since it seems that guys have less actual feelings than women do. Anyway, i think a lot of heterosexual guys, when they see an attractive woman (which most flight attendants seem to be), try to impress her. This for some guys comes off as some sort of grope or even a subtle brush against the woman. Other guys may be trying to impress their friends (which may sadly include themselves) by humiliating a working woman (which they may even be uncomfortable with). I don't think you should have to put up with it, its not in your job description to be a abused in any way. The next guy who slaps any part of you should receive a hard slap back or even a swift kick to the testicles! Good luck, i hope this does not happen to you or anybody again

To be honest, it is because this is one of only a few times in their lives they will have an attractive, classy, intelligent (you can't be a dummy and be a flight attendant) woman acknowledge them.

Sometimes, what may seem like a small gesture to you (a smile, a kind comment), can mean a whole lot to someone else. Most men - who have become accustomed to being ignored - read too much into it, and think that the woman finds them attractive.

You stated in your question that, ". . . it's [your] job to be hospitable and friendly . . .", and while your statement is true, at no point should be touched in an inappropriate manner.

If you are old enough to purchase an airline ticket, you are old enough to know how to act on a plane. Don't make a bunch of noise, Tell your kids to sit down and be quiet, and DON'T TOUCH THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS . . . THEY ARE NOT STRIPPERS, and you are NOT joining the Mile High Club today.

You have a better chance of joining Ron White's Mile Ahead Club - That's where you park a car behind a Cracker Barrel sign and, well, you know.

Being a guy myself I find this question particularly easy to answer. Being hospitable to some guyss often makes them feel in an authorative position where they are the boss, so they do whatever they want. Because more and more people are travelling these days there are a lot of lower class, uneducated and rude people (not particularly in that order) getting access to the skies. As (in my personal experience) flight attendants are well groomed and pretty, this would attract the pervert's attention. Another influence that could be acting on people is alcohol. Just like in clubs, the pretty girl gets harrassed.

Being hospitable and friendly is one thing, taking that kind of behaviour and not saying anything to these guys is another. What are they gonna do? Complain to your airline? Don't they teach you during training how to respond to that kind of crap? Sure, I understand that it may be difficult working in a small space like an airplane and that it is pretty much impossible to avoid further contact with those jerks(which might be uncomfortable), but isn't that even more reason to put a stop to it after the first time it happens. Obviously you can't slap and shout, but firmly tell him that it's inappropriate behaviour and if it happens again he will be reported upon arrival. That should put him in his place, right? You should not have to take that.

Ever imagined when you are one of the passengers and you want to be doing so to a male flight attendant. Do you have such a tendency? If you do not, then you are not human being. If yes, what would you do then? Be honest ma'am...
I feel these things one has to take it and as these are 'incidentals' that come with one's job. Sure you do not complain to your Captain? Thatz the problem, we all in this modern day are becoming some objects and are subjected to all such harrassment in our work places. These things happen to any lady who works in an office. I reckon this is more to do with our present day-to-day lives that encounters so much of these things and finally the male-mind getting 'polluted'.

It's all about the uniform. Men like women like this. You have special magazines for this guys, you now ? Look I'l have been travelling a lot and I can tell you some stories that happend to me
with flight attendants. Are you in the ''5 miles club " ? ask about it ? And most of the time, they touched me, ok ? Now, if you like it that they touch you, ok ? Let it go ? maybe you have a fantasie about it, to end up in the toilet with a guy, or no ? Think about it ?
It's fun and you just have to let you go. Don't make to much noice ok ? Have a go and let me now, yes ???

Wow, you are 17 and you are flight attendant? sweet, next time a dude touches your back just spill some very hot coffe on his lap and make it look like an accident and that way you will not get in trouble, but if he tries to do something to you, then play it the american way and sue the pervert.

good luck and no matter what don't let others abuse you.

Your job is to accidentally drop hot coffee in the perverts lap. Hospitality DOES NOT include letting someone grab your ANYTHING!!! , Unless you're a hooker. Do Airlines hire flying hookers now?? If so, Charge them for every grab. Are you even old enough to be a flight attendant?? NO.

Don't encourage it. Just politely tell him thats its rude...you're not getting paid to turn him on! I think its two fold, firstly men can be pigs... and it can be in our nature to act out our desires without thinking about how it affects a woman. Secondly the flight attendant fantasy is a cliche... It also makes you wonder why Flight companys employ some of the prettiest woman you will ever see...while this is no excuse, it causes men to stare and look and imgaine and in the extreme cases to act on their feelings, which is not right at all.

Don't tolerate it. Its not friendly to let someone grope you... Stand up!

Unfortunately flight attendants have a reputation for being gold digging, looking for a rich man, tramps. You have every right to say something to these men that touch you inappropriately. Next time it happens just smile and say, "Sorry but that's not on the menu or part of the entertainment."
