Not really.

Credit card companies purchase blocks of information from the credit bureaus that fit their criteria. (data mining)

A subprime company will purchase information of people who have bad credit. A prime company will purchase info on people who have good credit.

They don't spend the time and money to study the information they purchased. They just mass mail those pre-approvals hoping to get some bites. Then, if they get a response, they will pull a hard inquiry on the persons credit report to make their decision.

Though, every once in a while a company that a person already has a history with will send out a pre-approval. Many times that pre-approval is legit and the person is approved, but there are times the person may still be denied.

Hi, I worked for a call center that sold credit cards over the phone. From what I could gather there is no such thing as a pre approved card. The banks need to check your credit rating and they do it after you approve, which is done by the person calling or if you fill up the form and send them. The worst part is your credit score will go down by a few points, each time they check. If they find that you do not have a good credit score, they will not approve. Build your credit and you can get a credit card in due course. All the best. A few interesting articles for you:

NO! Banks dont know if your actually approved until they run a credit report. They cant do that with out your permission. If you have enough credit cards, why do you keep applying for more?

i imagine you're speaking about a debit card (like the Simon Mall Visa or Privacash or the little AmEx playing cards at drug shops). they're tremendous, mostly, yet i have not in any respect rented a vehicle with one. I DO lease autos with an time-honored debit card or a funds deposit, so are not getting a stupid mastercard merely to employ a vehicle. merely examine the web content of the organizations or call them to discover one which will settle for a debit card. charge playing cards suck, no count number the position they arrive from. if you're smart, you'll not in any respect get one.
