Most soldiers I know have resolved themselves to hell because of their choice of occupation. As a soldier, we see too much and do some pretty terrible things in the name of securing a nation. I have doubts that, a person who is designed to kill, even if in the name of another, can ever truly repent of these things. So, are we just creators of chaos, or are we giving the ultimate sacrifice... the loss of eternal redemption, to ensure those we serve remain free?

Well it's a matter of perspective. If the soldier feels as though what they are doing is just, and if they feel as though they are doing more good than harm (i.e. liberating a nation of oppressed people, spreading democracy) they should feel no doubt about the draconian (eye for an eye) form of justice they are exacting.

However, from a humanistic perspective (which is presumably the perspective Jesus would take), the killing of another human being for any reason, regardless of intent, is intolerable.

Ghandi advocated such a perspective. The people of India managed to gain independance of Great Britain by purely non-violent means. While enlightened, this process is a much slower road to freedom, that costs many more lives.

The Bible has conflicting viewpoints on the killing of another human being. It is condemned, of course, in the Ten Commandments, but as the previous answerer pointed out, there are wars fought in the Bible (several of them actually) and when the cause is just, God seems to give his blessing (except in Rom. 12:19: "vengence is mine," says the Lord). The tone changes in the New Testament however, when Jesus tells Peter "put your sword back in it's place" (Mat. 26:52) and "[turn] the other cheek" (Mat. 5:39).

Don't forget though, some of God's most favored servants have been leaders of men into battle: Moses, Joshua, and Gideon to name a few. The Bible is also very clear on redeption: Eph 1:7-8: "In [Christ] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses [sin], according to the riches of His grace which He lavished upon us"

As God's creation, for whom Jesus died on the cross, human beings can never sacrifice redemption unless they willingly choose not to repent. The Bible is very clear that Jesus died to cleanse all of humanity for their sins... past, present, and future.

Heb 9:15: "...those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance since a death has occurred which redeems them..."

In other words, the ransom for the bondage of sin has been paid for humanity.

Matt,8:7- 10; The man having soldiers under him said to Jesus that his child needed to be healed, but his house was not worthy for him to enter due to the fact that he had to give orders to soldiers, he told Jesus just say the words and his child would be healed, Jesus said, he had not found so great faith in all of Israel.

Whether you are in a state of hell or heaven upon physical death depends on your own memories of your life on earth. Once you are on the other side and can truly see we are all one, memories of killing others, no matter what the reason were, are not ones you want to face eternity with.

Some people do ask the most stupidest question`s with out any thought of how it (the question) will affect people. I mean, I can`t be the only parent/ grandparent of soldier`s answering question`s how do you think they will feel after reading your question, I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but surely you could have worded you question differently. Remembering Soldiers are only doing their job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just like anyone else, if they truly repent of their sins, God will forgive them. It is not an unforgivable sin (Jonah 3:8). Even so, if they did not repent, all that would be waiting for them is a grave, not fire (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6).

I don't think so; if you read the bible there is a lot of war song on. Even Jesus predicted more wars and turmoil.

No.

Those unwilling to fight for the rights of others don't deserve them for themselves.

Soldiers are often necessary.
