Especially when they have more electronics than was ever invented when I was a kid. (I'm 30 now) I just don't get it. Have kids imaginations evaporated?

They say they're bored because they are. They are no longer capable of entertaining themselves due to all the artificial stimulation in their lives.

Yes, to the question about their imaginations. They have been given so much that they haven't had to develop their brains to keep themselves interested in the world. They think it should just be served up to them. Thank God, when my kids were young they could play out in the street, with other kids, and did, (even though they had a computer-they weren't so besotted with it as most kids nowadays - although one of them now works in IT!) The computer game industry hasn't done kids any favours, just made money for itself.

why are kids spoiled by their parents? everything you describe about the 'spoiled' kids has been PUT THERE BY THEIR PARENTS!
the fundamental question is how can kids get good training if their parents are so hopelessly flawed to begin with.
WHINE ABOUT PARENTING - not it's victimized and ruined products!!!!

Because they loose the sense of money (the value of things)... the sense of working for something. They get used to asking for things and receiving them immediately. They should be teached how to save money (even for a couple of days, for example), before getting the things they've asked.
