Polygamy had been practiced in Arabia for centuries to solve the problem of what to do when tribal wars reduce the number of available men and produce more widows with children who need support. Polygamy saved widows and their children from the need to earn a living as a servant, beggar or prostitute.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) set precedents to guide Muslims along this difficult path. He was married to one woman during the prime of his life from age 25 until her death when he was 53 years old. This counters the argument that he was a womanizer.
His reasons for marriage were vast.
Prophet Muhammed was not the only prophet to practise polygamy.

As for the wars - Tribes and colonies waged war against the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him).
The prophet never engaged in war unless he or his people were attacked.
Islam sets down clear guidelines as to when war is ethically right, and clear guidelines as to how such a war should be conducted.
In brief, war is permitted:
1) in self defence
2) when other nations have attacked an Islamic state
3) if another state is oppressing its own Muslims

Pologamy in old times was (and still is) allowed in all religions.
Christian church banned it in mid 1600s, Jewish high priests did in mid 1900s and so did Hindus.
You really need to study world religions before asking such questions.

no, it's why he waged war and killed innocent people. He had sex with his 9 year old wife (he "married" her when she was six (he was over 50 years old at the time (he SAID Allah told him to marry her, and he told her that too)
Today we put people like that in prison and keep them away from our kids.
