Is an Atheist someone who believes differently then you or is it someone who does not believe in any of the religions and the idea of God?Would you call an Atheist names and would you call a person who believes differently then you names?

The reason I ask this is because of the response I got from another question.See the 5Th answer to this to see what I mean:

This person accuses me of being an Atheist.Or at least the response suggest that that was the sentiment.How does that person know I am an Atheist?I quoted a religious document and asked if people knew of it.How does that make me an Atheist?Is it because my religion sounds odd?or even silly?If so, then see this question:

"Is an Atheist someone who believes differently then you or is it someone who does not believe in any of the religions and the idea of God?"

Neither. If someone believes differently than you that doesn't mean they are an atheist. Also, atheists can be both religious and spiritual.

"Would you call an Atheist names and would you call a person who believes differently then you names?"

I wouldn't but unfortunately, some people do.

"The reason I ask this is because of the response I got from another question.See the 5Th answer to this to see what I mean"

Just ignore that guy.

I'm an atheist and I agree with this definition:
Atheist: One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods.

I would define an atheist someone who doesn't believe in any religion or religious spirituality at all. Which would be me. There is no facts that support a heaven or hell. Spiritual beliefs are for those who want to believe, but i don't believe in anything like that for that matter because nothing supports any reasons and reasonings people have to believe. People can have their beliefs and good for them. But I have mine and all I want is for people to respect them. And throughout life you are labeled, whether you want to be labeled or not people will do it. Calling someone an Atheist is no different than calling someone a Catholic or a Jew. It is not name calling because people want to be called that. People follow religions or no religions at all and what a different way for people to see that. So are you saying that since the bible is interpreted in different ways that everyone should just be called a Christian. Doing so will only say that they are all the same and everyone has the same view. Being called a Methodist or a Catholic will tell that their views on the Bible and on Christianity are different and people can decide what they would like to become. Being called an Atheist shows that I don't believe in god.

just my opinion check ya later ♥

I would never pick on a person for their given belief system. We have free will and it is an individuals choice on which path they prefer to walk. I may not agree with the theology of a particular belief system but that in itself is different from the human practitioner of it.

To me an atheist is someone who chooses non-belief in deities, religions and religious theories & dogma.

I define as an Atheist someone who does not believe in any god, but it's possible I'm wrong ;)
For the other question you did I simply call this one simply as "different thinking person" and I'm used to respect him.

A person who does not believe in any religious idol, one god or many. Some also protest, and are strongly against organized religion, they believe it is going to be the obstacle holding us back from pure scientific knowledge, which I've noticed to be plausible.

There are many false religions in the world and many little gods which are are false gods that people have been deceived into following and promoting. The Holy Bible says that man will not believe and be damned for it.

A true atheist, is someone who believes there is no higher power.

People will try to complicate it, but if you believe there is no higher power, you are an atheist. If you believe in a higher power but you don't think there is enough info to make a decision you are agnostic.

α = no
θεος = God
From the Greek meaning no God. An atheist is a person
who takes the position that there is no god.
It is logically indefensible.
