Please read this question carefully before answering. I thing that Hitler was one of the most evil people who ever lived. The question is a critique of the Christian concept of justification by faith.

If you take justification by faith to its logical conclusion then you have to believe in the possibility that he and his cronies could have repented on his death bed and as the old hymn says, 'the vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives'

On the other hand, the innocent Jews and others who were brutally killed in the gas chambers did not put their faith in Jesus so by the same concept you would have to believe that they all went to hell.

i for one cannot accept this as being just by any moral standard, but what do you think?

Yes, if he truly repented of his sins then he would, according to xtian orthodoxy, have gone to heaven.

Constantine, the emperor of Rome who introduced xtianity as the official religion of the empire, held off from getting baptised until minutes before his death, in order that he might live as sinful a life as possible but be expiated of his sins by baptism and therefore go straight to heaven (assuming he refrained from sinning in the final minutes of his life)

Great religion, isn't it? The vilest of people can get a ticket to heaven through the bizarre belief in a sky pixie and repenting their sins to said pixie. And the gentlest, kindest of people will roast in hell for their rational difficulty in accepting that the sky pixie exists, or a tactical error in choosing the wrong sky pixie.

He committed suicide, so depends whether it's protestant Christianity or catholic you're going by. The catholic faith, and correct me if I'm wrong, states that suicide is a sin. So he would have gone to hell for taking a life, his own, not to mention the innocents who perished due to his brutal regime.

In any case, he wasn't of sound mind at that time and I doubt he would have even thought about repenting, considering he thought his actions were justified. Truly evil people still harbour a delusion they're doing good.

On these two points, if there is a hell, I'd imagine he's roasting for eternity.

I cannot accept those jews who perished would have been sent to hell. Priests must have been amongst those who were brutally killed. I have no doubt, after dogged persecution, they knew what awaited them. I believe they spiritually tended their people before the end.

You're right. I cannot accept the christian view being just by any moral standard.

In all religions, wrong doers go to hell, Christianity comes directly from the Jewish books of Old Testaments,so they will know all about hell and heaven. Remember they gave Christianity to the west and civilised them. I think Christianity and Islam are a troublesome to everyone on this earth. I don't put any emphasis or importance to these two religions. By the way I am a christian only in name.

I am partial to Hinduism (9000 yrs old) and Buddhism 2600 yrs), it's concept is peace not war. There wouldn't even have been a war in Europe if they were a believers of either Hinduism or Buddhism. Europe never had it's own religion or God, they borrowed Christianity from Asia. All Major religions Originated in Asia non at all from Europe. All you are doing is taking the coal to New Castle.

This is a very interesting question. If, from a Christian perspective, you believe that:
a. God gets what he wants, and
b. God wants everyone to be saved

then you have to conclude that even Hitler is saved and in Heaven. The logic of this from a Universalist point of view (the belief that everyone will -- sooner or later -- end up in Heaven) is that when we are on Earth, we, being imperfect beings and subject to all kinds of genetic and cultural influences, sin. Upon our death, however we come to a fuller awareness of the impact of our actions on Earth, and repent, and go to Heaven. This has been an undercurrent of Christianity almost since the beginning.

From a non-Christian perspective, it seems to me to make no sense for a perfect God to judge imperfect humans on the basis of actions that they were not fully able to resist because of the nature of their humanity.

So yes, Hitler will be in Heaven, if there is a heaven.

Sadly, yes he could have. If you read the history of the first Crusade you will see that a man can commit the vilest of crimes against humanity yet still have all his sins forgiven. I think he didn't though because despite our weaknesses on earth regarding what can and cannot be pardoned, I like to believe that God will do his own quality control: so my final answer is NO.

An excellent question, well worth going on the main page!

Alas, I don't have an answer and may offend people by attempting it, as I'm not a realigious man and don't really know the ins and outs of religion.

My personal view is "possibly yes". If he repented on his deathbed then he'd go to limbo for a very very long time to make up for all of his sins, but he'd get into heaven evevtually.

Hitler, the holocaust and WW2 were very important, they established the modern world territories, it led to the nuclear age, it lead to there being one superpower, as another poster said it showed us the value of human life. Everything has to be taken into perspective, Hitler was, in his mind, doing the world a favor, he thought he was the good guy. Anyone can be saved, because to God sin is sin, and there can be no sin in heaven, whether you lied when you were 10 or killed 12 million people. God will forgive you if your willing to take the step to ask.

this is all my beliefs and opinions though, so thats my answer

expensive gwelch, whilst the Bible makes use of the be conscious faith it is no longer only an intellecutla perception in God- in spite of the shown fact that it is a perception it is so deeply rooted and uncomplicated that it is meditated interior the way of existence of that right. That being pronounced- we are able to all agree that Hitler's way of existence looked particularly opposite to that of the instructions of the Bible and Jesus Christ. So no be counted if Hitler went to heaven or no longer is between him and Jesus Christ. If faster or later he somewhat found out that the way that he have been residing his existence replace into evil and repented (clearly- God sees guy's coronary heart) then like the thief who died next to Christ -- God's grace is that variety. From what i've got examine and generally happening approximately Hitler i individually doubt it. yet somewhat it is between him and Jesus and that i think of that maximum people who say this- use it as a fashion to perpetrate hate against Christians-- and to declare that Christians are nazis, etc. What Hitler did replace into atrocious and unbiblical, and un-Christ like,... Yes - justified by belief in Jesus as his saviour and not personal good deeds or works, the worst offender can get to heaven. This is God's grace in a nutshell.

Having said this it is extremely unlikely that Hilter had a death bed conversion. Many historians infact point to Hilter's interest in the occult -not supprising really as this is from the devil and Hilter's actions were evil.

I, personally, do not believe that any of us go anywhere when we die. But if there was a heaven I think that, by the rules of the Catholic faith, Hitler & his cronies would undoubtedly be there.
Jesus died for our sins & surely that must include Hitler's. The Catholic faith believes that if you confess all your sins each day you will be forgiven & admitted into the kingdom of heaven.
Surely by that criteria if Hitler were denied entry it would not be very christian.
