my family "obtained" a shaker full of it about 7 years ago and i just used some on my pizza (yumm)

spices don't spoil, they just lose their flavour. as long as it's still spicy and still has the aroma it's good.

I write the date the spice is opened on it with a black marker, then one year later I throw all the spices out and buy new ones.

For salad dressings, I write the date opened on it and then throw away all bottles six months later.

Maybe I'm just weird though...

frozen about two years in open pantry about 1 year. They don't spoil or go bad they just lose their strength and do not have as much flavor after that.

haha we have a bottle that was from 9 years ago and we still use it...i guess it doesnt expire cuz no one gets sick off of it

you can make it more better and edible by leaving them to crisp out under the hot sun in the afternoon.
