If it's a choice about wearing jeans and going, or not wearing jeans and not going, go in jeans.

However, when we go to church, we should show our respect for God and our respect for the things that we are going to learn and do there. Putting on nicer clothes is a way of showing our respect; we cared enough to dress nicely for the occasion. When you're in your nicer clothes, you know it's an important occasion.

At my church, for example, men usually wear shirts and ties or suits and women usually wear skirts or dresses. This style of dress helps us to show our respect for God. If someone didn't own a skirt, she wouldn't be kicked out of the church. Whatever a person has that is clean, neat and respectful would be appropriate.

That is not true at all... You see your aunt went to a church with man made rules and regulations.. There is nothing in the bible that says that... I believe that was in place in that church because it makes a fellow brother struggle with there spirituality.. and walk with Christ. Tight jeans show a woman's back side.. you know there assest..s lol.. well anyway.. clothing like that revels curves and things so it sounds like that church in placed those rules.. THAT IS NOT THE CHRISTIAN FAITH... by all means.. a bad representation. Don't get me wrong I am sure the attentions were well in all but... things like that don't last. There is some scriptures in the bible that talk about having a woman head covered. I can further explain that if you would like.. I just need to search it out.. Let me know..

perhaps your aunt is a pentecostal? They have all sorts of social edicts. Woman wear skirts or dresses that maybe show the ankle if they are feeling flirtatious. And no flamboyant jewelry to signify the wearer is flaunting their materialness in front of others.

That may not be the case, though. I'm guessing your aunt is from the old school world were "young ladies" dressed like little dolls complete with sunday hats and white gloves. Those types of people mean well but are still stuck in the pre-bra-burning days. Just play nice now and give the impression you are a good dutiful young lady, and then when she passes you might receive a large sum of inheritance. :P

that's where religon comes in Christianity isn't about clothes how someone looks it's about the heart but many different denominations want rules and regs on how someone appears. That has happened to me also. am not a dress wearer never have been we went to an apolostic church and I was snubbed cause I wore pants and had short colored hair. we go to a church now where all is accepted no matter what u wear.

Maybe that is how she felt but just wasn't a rule. When I was a Christian we wore jeans and pants to church. Some people came right from work to church and would be in grease stained clothing but they were there. I don't think the Christian God cares what you wear, it is what is in your heart that matters.

It's amazing to me how many people will go out of their way just to make someone else feel alienated because of their own insecurities.

When I was going to church inappropriate or "unacceptable" meant (for woman anyway) clothing that would make your "bothers in Christ" or in other words the men in the congregation, struggle with impure thoughts. Sort of like helping them sin. In my opinion jeans are not unacceptable (could have been worse) ...but maybe she wishes she could feel comfortable wearing a pair herself.

That is just her opinion. You should always wear nice, clean clothes that cover your body well ( No too short skirts or too revealing shirts etc ).

Remember, worship is for God.

There are a lot of different kind of people at the church, so sometimes people might say something that hurts your feelings. We are not perfect. We need Christ, and that is why we worship Him. The church is the hospital for sinners. You do not find perfect people from there, even if somebody thinks that they are perfect.

Some people feel that it is best be dressed in your best for church (Hence the term Sunday Best) Most churches have started "come as you are" waves to bring people in without the idea of having to be dressed up to hear the Lord's work. Hope this helps.

Some take a Bible verse a little too far. There is a Bible verse that says that women are not to wear men's clothes and vice versa. In the earlier part of this century, pants of any kind were considered men's clothing exclusively. Some more conservative churches still preach that women shouldn't wear pants.

Trust me God wants you to believe no matter what you wear. remember Jesus pulled in all types from rabbis, to tax collectors(relatively rich individuals usually) to simple fishermen. He wants all to believe in him.

It really depends on the Church. Jeans to some are concidered "Too Casual" to be worn at Church.

My church allows jeans and/or slacks. They're very laid back. But do frown upon Swim suits, see through styles or bare middrifts.
