No, but you have to have someone very special in order to handle ignorant people and their predjudice and pride. I had a friend who is African American and he was dating my Caucasian friend. Okay, they were in bible school and received angry looks and evil threats. I was so mad I wanted to punch some people's lights out. Talk about hypocrites. The good thing is - if you tough it out - some people will change their mind and understand that the only real difference is the amount of melanin in your skin and that you have the SAME pigment. Not to say that there are no challenges. I have friends who got married and one was African American and the other Caucasian and it only lasted 6 months. As long as you're willing to risk alienation from friends and family - but most family if they really love you will come around in time and realize you care about each other. And if your friends don't approve - well they are not really friends now are they? I think it's easy for people and their predjudice to tear you apart but it's totally possible you just have to be an emotionally strong person with your head on straight to understand how to answer the rude and ignorant people you will encounter. If you find true love - all of the challenges will be worth it.

If you like the person it shouldnt matter what their race age or religion as long as you 2 get along... You can work the other problems out later on down the road and if their family doesnt approve thats something they will have to work on with them you arent being with that person family you are being with them.

If you are prepared to deal with the consequences of your choice by all means go out with the person. If it's a potentially serious relationship then face facts. Holidays will likely be tense and throwing "but I like her" tantrums are pointless. If you aren't prepared to deal with those things then don't do it. The relationship is doomed if you're fickle in your commitment and end up back peddling remorsefully when it's over or she hurts your feelings. If you really care about the person don't suck them into a vortex that you're not prepared to pilot them through and start by being upfront with them about your family. It's not a should or should not it's about making a choice that your prepared to live with.

It is my suggestion that you reach in and find the courage and boldness not to care about How others will react.

There is no happiness in allowing others to dictate what you are Supposed to feel. If you allow that to happen then you may just be passing up on a life changing experience. :)

It is also my suggestion that you Not engage in any confrontation with other peoples opinions of this situation either. You will not change their minds. People are entitled to their opinions, just keep in mind that you are not there to change their minds Rather you are there to have a Great Experience with the person that has captured your attention.

I hope this helps...

Until later, Make it a Great Day!
Peace, Laurie

why should race be the problem? this is not the reason not to go out with someone u like. if u have problem with the family, well u gonna have to work with that. but unless u never introduce yourself to her family( or introduce her to your family) u never know how they feel about u.
but know this, even some peolpe don't like some person who came from the same race. so don't be afraid with something u're not sure.
u never know unless u try it..be brave..
