I see it everywhere online, and I have no clue what it means.

"emo" is short for "emotional" or, as it's more commonly taken, "emotional hardcore". it basically means people (generally youths) who have defined themselves as hating or disliking a large number of things, stereotypically including themselves. the "emotional" part comes from the idea among emos that crying and the exaltation of sadness is "hardcore".

also, if you've seen it online, it most likely refers - especially in forums - to someone who whines or whinges a lot, particularly in the phrase "cheer up, emo kid"
