Christianity is not, nor has it ever been, a religion of peace. Nor will it ever be. More hate, war, death, etc. has been done in the name of that religion than any other. While they preach peace they don't much show it. The crusades, witch burnings, inquisition, etc. (before ANYONE says that was only catholics, it wasn't the witch trials in many countries, including the US, were done by Protestants) have shown just what that religion of peace will do if disagreed with. Not only that but they have decimated cultures, tribes, nations, etc. that they have 'tried to bring to God'. Sorry, that isn't peace.
But in all fairness, most organized religions have done similar, Christians have just done it on a more massive scale because of the sheer numbers of followers.

I have been in churches where if your asked to name a favorite song and you find it in their hymnal, they won't sing it because it implies the confrontational aspect of being a christian. Irreguardless that it was written by the first man who translated the Latin Bible into the common language, that the tune used was a popular beer hall melody throws a lot of the prissy off their high horses. Are you by chance one of those?

The battle is spiritual in nature, not physical. We are soldiers in God's army fighting the forces of evil every day.

i like the answer that tuflady gave because it is true these battles and wars are spiritual not physcial and there is something else that i would like to say christianty is not a religon it is a relationship with jesue christ that can only be obtained by believing in that which you can't see and also trusting in that you can't feel, this is simple faith in action.

Christianity is a religion in which peace is valued.
Christians are people who may or may not be peaceful.
I believe it was C.S. Lewis who said Christianity does not make you a good person, just a forgiven one.
