Okay the reason why it is frowned on is because:
God made women and men
Women are made for men
Men are made for women
God forgives all sins sweetie. I believe that if a person is a homosexual but believes in God and follows God then they will be saved.
It is a sin in the eyes of God
Adam was created first and the he was lonely so He created Eva not another Adam to keep him company.
We are all born sinners
We are mad like a puzzel
God Bless you and you friends
Have a lovely day

Your hero,
" If god says that all sins are the same in severity, than why is homosexuality singled out as the one and only unforgivable sin?"
Because people are taught wrong, YH. They are taught really bad things.
" All sins are forgivable, and every man sins. I am not gay, but have many christian friends that are, and they are all afraid of whats going to happen to their soul because of the way they are. "
It sounds like they are taught wrong too! Where's their faith? You should get mad at them when they do that! Repeat after me:
" Oh ye of so little faith! "
" But every one lives their life in sin. "
There's more than one way to look at that, YH. Typically, people that say " living in sin, " mean that someone has placed themselves in a position to become a slave to it. If you trust God, you will overcome anything. But most importantly your focus is right where it needs to be, right on Christ.
If they are Christian, and only if they are Christian, beat 'em over the head for being weenies about it. I'm meaning it a little jokingly, but recognize the serious nature of the thing- God won't work if there is not faith! Tell them! And do a study on what faith really is.
"Can anyone clarify why there is such a negative stigma towards homosexuals in the christian world?"
It doesn't matter really. There are *******. There will always be someone who thinks that they don't sin as much as the next guy.
Remember, Jesus was a friend of sinners. The religious people had the hardest time with Him.
Trust Jesus, that's the top and bottom of it!
Now go and tell them that they need to have an idea. You know what I mean.

I believe homosexuality has always had some stigma attached--especially to the "fundamentalist" christians out there..homosexuality is not an unforgivable sin .... the real issue has always been that homosexuals are seen as a threat to the family... God is all about family...
personally i cant condone or condemn homosexuals.. i have known dozens been friends with many, and have never known one of them tell me they chose their lifestyle.. and i also dont feel the fundamentalists can have it both ways-- you cant tell everyone God makes no mistakes, and threaten ppl like homosexuals with hell and brimstone.... because they are a mistake... or an abomination..or whatever... they like to quote the OT ...but if you read the NT Jesus really never rebuked too many ppl at all --except the Phirasees and the overly religious... the unclean spirits....etc.... how bout the adulteress that was to be stoned--- after saving her from the fate---what did Jesus say, "go and sin no more" no condemnation, no judgement just stop it... i dont claim to know the answer.. i just know gays have been here forever and they will be here when Jesus shows up again... and Im sure he will take care of them, just like the rest of us

As others have indicated, the only unforgivable sin mentioned in the Bible is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, "But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of eternal sin." (Mark 3:29)
I don't think that the negative stigma is only against homosexuals. Any unrepentant sin is looked down on.
Paul himself said, "I wrote to you in my letter to stop associating with people who are sexually immoral - not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or greedy people, robbers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing to you to stop associating with any so-called brother if he is sexually immoral, greedy, an idolater, a slanderer, a drunk, or a robber. With such a person you must even stop eating. After all, is it my business to judge outsiders? You are to judge those who are inside, aren't you? God will judge outsiders. "Put that wicked man away from you." (I Corinthians 5:9-13)
Earlier, while speaking of this sexually immoral man, Paul said, "...hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the Day of the Lord." (I Corinthians 5:5)
Why did he want the man out of the church? So he would be ashamed and repent. The whole idea is to restore the person to fellowship. Further, if he didn't repent, he would be saved on the day of the Lord.
So, it doesn't have to be homosexuality. It can be any unrepentant sin that the "Christian" indulges in.

Homosexuality is not the unforgivable sin. There are multiple religions that believe different things, such as suicide is the unforgivable sin, and like this that homosexuality is. but that's not true, blasphemy is the only unforgivable sin. ALSO homosexuality is so disgusting to God for more than one reason, 1: homosexuality originated with Sodom and Gomorrah...which God destroyed because it was so disgusting to him. 2: procreation...if everyone in this world was gay...the human species would go extinct. God created Adam and eve... and that's how it should be.

First, you need to answer a couple of your claims -
1. Where does God say that all sins are the same severity (I realize that some hold this opinion, but where do you see that God says that?)
2. Who singles out homosexuality as the one and only unforgivable sin?
Jesus specifically "singles out" blasphemy of the Holy Spirit as the one unforgivable sin.

It's not really a stigma, and all sins definitely aren't the same. Homosexuality is viewed as a sin by Christians because we believe that procreation is one of God's greatest gifts to a husband and wife and that it is sacred, so using it in a way that He didn't intend or want it to be used is like taking that great gift and slapping the Lord in the face with it. I've personally never read or believed that it was an unforgivable sin. The only sins I have ever understood to be unforgivable are murder and witchcraft, but someone please, correct me if I'm wrong.

First of all, homosexuality is not the unforgivable sin; rejecting Christ when the Holy Spirit convicts one of sin is. Secondly, a gay person who has become a Christian, is then trying to leave their gay lifestyle and not stay in it, as Christ has forgiven them for that sinful way, and in forgiveness we are to repent, which is to turn away from. Each sin is equal in weight, with the exception of rejection of the Holy Spirit upon conviction of our need for Christ; therefore, if our sin is stealing, when we seek forgiveness, we must turn away from stealing any longer. If our sin has been adultery, then we must stop our affair. If our sin has been lying, we must stop our lying. This is why sometimes we need someone to be accountable to in helping us stay repentant from the sin that seems to ever keep us drawn back to it. Especially in the lives of homosexuals, addictions, and sexual sins it seems the hold is very hard to break and the repentance is difficult to maintain; but Jesus is always there to forgive.
As to the negativity - it is a blend of media hype to make Christianity look uncaring, when in fact it is just the opposite. It also the fact that many homosexuals are led to believe that they can keep their lifestyle, which God has strictly forbidden and condemned, and still claim to be a follower of Christ - obviously this is an oxymoron.
The negativity also stems from the fact that homosexuality in its efforts to be recognized as legitimate has eroded the base family value system even further than it was; it has placed demands upon the school system to be presented as viable family option, however, other family arrangements cannot be given equal leverage and teaching time. It is the overkill that they have been done injustly that has led to the stigma. Having parents for teachers, by they time they teach all the special interest, they have little time to actually teach the basics of education and then we wonder why we graduate students who are illiterate, but know their sexual preferences without a doubt - a subject that was never intended for the public school system, but for the family unit.

Like the previous poster, there's nothing that says that homosexuality is unforgiveable. I believe because the Bible speaks of homosexuality as an abomination and there aren't many other sins that are strongly defined as this, that we put alot of emphasis on it.
Bottom line is that sin is sin and being homosexual is a sinful state of mind (it is fulfilling the desires of the flesh versus the desire of God's will and design for our lives.) Once you repent of your sins (meaning you recognize that this is wrong and that you will not do it again, with a sincere heart) then by God's grace and mercy, you are forgiven of that sin. If you say you won't do it again and you do, you haven't truly repented.

Sin is sin whether it is big or small, it has the same severity. " For the wages of sin Death" Romans 6 : 23.
Being born into a christian family, attending church, being a active member in the church doesnot make anyone a proper christian ( born - again Christian / Believer). A proper christian will NEVER commit sins deliberately.
For example : Putting on Military Fatigues will never make a person a Soldier, but if he is enlisted with the army he becomes a soldier.
Just because your friends go to chruch doesnot make them christians. A person who has Jesus Christ as his Saviour is a proper christian.

Because the homosexuals insist on Christians accepting and tolerating homosexuality....as if it is okay...
And it's not singled out as the one and only unforgiveable sin..by the way...Sins are sins...
It may feel that way as the gays are pushing their agenda so much to the public and forcing their agenda into the lives of all. We are being told we have to accept, regardless of ones belief, that homosexual is okay...They are pushing into the schools and telling children that its okay to be homosexual...Teaching them its okay to sin....
As for their souls...Only God can answer that....
