First off I am Mormon.
Disregard what the previous answerers told you.
Bring your bible we use it. I love the New Testament. Wear a nice dress (not a prom dress) with sleeves. Or a skirt and blouse. If there is a special musical number ie someone sings a solo or something, don't clap. We don't clap in our chapels. Basically just wear something nice and conservative, and just sit back and feel the Spirit that will be present.
Ask someone who is still a Mormon why they still go to church.
I go because it is God's only true church that has His authority on earth. I go because I love the feeling that is there. I go because the teachings just make sense. I go because I want to.
PS we don't practice polygamy.
Try http://mormon.org It is an official site of the church and should be able to help you understand our teachings a little better.

Well sweetie, sadly, don't listen to half of the answered you've received. I'm a convert... I was introduced to the church by my now husband. I'm glad you're giving it a shot! It's always good to keep an open mind. :)
Dress modestly (a skirt and short sleeved top is fine) or a dress. Just be aware that LDS folks take pride in modesty, so as long as your don't wear a mini skirt or a low-cut revealing top, you'll be fine!
Just relax and be yourself. We're just like everyone else. And if you'd like to bring a Bible, go for it. We read that too! Many people think we don't.
Have a great time at church.

Where a white shirt, tie, dress pants, dress shoes. Good clothing. We go to worship on sunday, how we dress in the church of god reflects how serious we regard the gospel.
And definetly bring your scriptures with you as well. You'll have a great time.
And as you've probably learned by asking this question, asking general questions about the church on this site mostly gives you misunderstandings and lies about the church. I would suggest just contacting the missionaries for further questions, your friends, or those LDS members who have already answered you question. We'd be happy to answer your questions the best we can.

Read the Book of Mormon all the way 2 or 3 times, then
read "A Marvelous Work and a Wonder", by Le Grand
Richards. Had many conversations over a period of months
with Mormon Missionaries. Then I read the Bible a few times
and decided that I would rather follow the Bible all the way.
Mormons are generally nice people but I find that most of them
don't know the Bible all that well.

just be yourself! you can wear a knee length skirt and a nice dress shirt or a nice t-shirt and some dress shoes. you don't have to go all out...
take my advise i am Mormon and hadn't been to church for at least 7 years and going back was the most unexplainable good feeling i have ever had. i love going to church now! there is such a wonderful feeling. don't let anyone talk you out of going! once you convert its like life has a whole new meaning. i was baptized at age 9 and it was such an awesome feeling!!!! i am planning on getting a patriarticle blessing soon and I'm very excited. everyone i have talked to said that when they got theirs they had never felt so much love and warmth before. you will not regret being converted!! i promise!!!!!! if you have any questions or want to talk you can email me at roxy_chick9205@hotmail.com, i would love to hear your experience!

The members on here gave an accurate view of how the church service is conducted. My additional piece of advice is to not convert based on a guy friend. Also, the discussions you receive barely touch the surface of the positive aspects of the church. Do not convert based on them. There are many negative things about the church you won't discover until you delve into it yourself. And then, if you have doubts or questions, their only answer is to "just have faith". Be careful.

Usually women will wear skirts or dresses to church. Anything that you have that is clean, neat, and modest would be appropriate to wear. You won't get kicked out because of your clothes.
The services at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints usually consist of three meetings, one right after the other. The main meeting is called Sacrament Meeting. In this meeting we partake of bread and water to remember the body and blood of Jesus Christ. This meeting also usually involves hymns, prayers, talks from members of the church, and possibly other musical numbers. The other two meetings are classes, comparable to Sunday School in other churches. One class is called Sunday School; in this class we study scriptures and other appropriate teachings. During the other meeting there are separate classes for women and men. The women's organization is called the Relief Society.
The whole group of services takes three hours.
As far as how to act, I think you will be just fine when you observe how your friend acts and how the other members of the church act. Our services are usually quiet so that the people in the church have the ability to think carefully and feel the "still, small voice" of the Holy Ghost. However, there are families there in most congregations, so you might hear children talking or crying from time to time.
I hope that you enjoy your experience in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been associated with the Church for a long time and it makes me happy. I know that it's true.

Yes, as someone said earlier, disregard what half the people just said, than you'll be off to a good start. Just dress modest and relax. Most wards that I have been in are really good about making visitors feel welcome and would be really nice to you. I dunno if you are planning on going to Sunday school and whatnot, but if you are it would be nice to have a Bible and a Book of Mormon handy as you will probably read from them. I dunno whether or not you are planning on taking the Sacrament, some people are a little weirded out by that. If you are, no worries, you don't have to and no one will think less of you if you don't, but if you do that's awesome, no reason to be afraid of it, it's bread and water. I truly hope you enjoy yourself!
Edit: Oh, and don't go with any preconceived notions that people who hate the religion may have given you. We're not crazy, we're not a cult, and we don't believe in plural marriages (polygamy). We're Christians at the very core, but with the Book of Mormon as another testament of Jesus Christ.

The lies are so overwhelming. All denominations assume you to tow the line spiritually. I left the Church because those human beings placed themselves on a non secular pedestal. I joined a Christian Jesus reality depending Church. i'm some distance extra satisfied spiritually. Mormons ignore all are a similar in God's eyes. human beings and denominations.
