I am a 25 year old guy thinking about getting a cat. I want a cat that's going to be more of a lap cat and be pretty affectionate. I have heard that male cats are affectionate and nicer to female humans and female cats are more affectionate and nicer to male humans. Which sex do you think would be the best for me?

Female kitens/Cats tend to adore a male owner.
My male cat cant stand my husband--and avoids him every chance he gets!
I just got my Father a female kitten and she follows him everywhere!
Go for a Girl Kitty!--Hope this helps!

I think it depends on the cat itself. I have three cats, 2 males and 1 female. The oldest male is such a lover, loves all people and is a lap cat. The female is only a lover to me, hates people and will hide all day. The youngest male is full of piss and vinager. He is so hyper, but he is a lover and he likes to bit. If you are looking for a cat I would go to a shelter, spend awhile there and find the cat that is right for you.

Either will be good but where did you get that saying my friend has one female and one male and the female always cuddles close to my frien but the male, not so goodㅡbut If you want a calm cat that diesen't go to crazy then I would pick a Ragdoll. Well have fun with your new kitty!

Either - it really just depends on the personality of the Cat.

If you are looking for particular traits in a cat, e.g. likes to be picked up, very affectionate, likes to cuddle, etc. you are better off getting a full grown cat, whose personality is already established. Kittens are a crapshoot in personality, because you don't know what they will grow up to be like. I suggest you go to your local humane society and talk to the cat volunteers about the type of cat you want, and I am sure they can suggest a few for you to consider getting.

either sex is affectionate. go to ur local humane society, and let a cat approach you, and interact w/it. the stereotype u mentioned is an old one. i've known several cases where the opposite is true. it all depends on how ur personality and the personality of the cat mesh. Good luck!! plz choose a shelter cat. i think u'll find a wonderful friend for life who will appreciate you waiting there.

Female - not sure why but they seem to be more attracted to males.

A siamese cat would make a great compnaion for any male.
