Very simple, children are our future.

You are unique in this universe; there will never be another like you. And you are mortal which means at some point you will be dead.

But what of your treasures. Do they just died with you? Or can some be save to live beyond you.

The treasure I speak of are not materialistic, but are your beliefs, your values, what you life for and are prepared to die for. What of these?

Now you know why children are our future. Because they can take your treasures beyond your life.

Now take to your partner, but he/she is necessary to produce a child, and he/she probably has treasures too.

I hope that is spiritual enough for you.

The purpose of raising a child is to prepare them for their future. Lot of parents think that all you have to do is feed them, give them a home, and hug them every now and then is enough. You must plan ahead for your child's well being in the future and the best way is to provide for them financially. Lets face reality, if you don't have money now you are giving them a future life of struggle and poverty. The facts are that only 1% of millionaires in America are truly self made. People that do not get help from their parents financially are not going to make much for themselves. As much as this hurts, even going to college and having a good career, life in the future will be difficult. This is the reason I did not have children and do not plan to ever have kids. A good start would be a savings account with a weekly set amount deposited for your child's future and stick to it. Finally, If I were you I would really consider not having any children at all and have a good life for yourself.

Why should you have a child?

The first reason is you get joy because you have created life. Your lineage continues.

Next, the child gives you immense happiness. Ask any young couple who have had a child recently.

There is a spiritual reason too. God told Adam, be fruitful and multiply. Why? To glorify the Creator who is the ultimate author of life on this earth and populate the earth.

The earth is well populated so it can't be that now can it! How about the fact that children reveal an innocence to life that adults all to often forget. They tend to hear the birds, when parents are thinking about the bills, they see the ant at work when we often just see the news.
They are what they are, we often wear masks and behave in ways we know we shouldn't. They are our future, our namesake our company when we grow old. They are so many things we are not and it is that reminder that often keeps our society in balance. Hey, here's a thought, let's stop killing them and see what happens!

well, I consider children to be a great responsibility and a blessing, one I am not ready for. If and when I am ready for children I would like to be able to show them the beauty of this world as much as possible before they have to grow up and deal with real life. You raise children to carry on the family lineage as well as carry on mankind, if you think you do not wish to add to the world population then you should definatley discuss this with your partner bc they may have different ideas. when I have children I will have them because I want them, I'm financially stable and am willing to love and care for them.

This is terrance mckenna theory, Its that you basically move up the ladder of history of time. If you breed then genes will exist. Sorta imagine it as a race or lastman standing type of thing. Whoever's genes make it to the "end of time" Gets a extra point and a free breadstick or something stupid like that. However if you die without moving up. You will be stuck at where you ended. Kinda vague the way he described it.

If you don't pass on your DNA than you are failing you duty to the human race.

We raise children so they can grow up to have children of there own and so on.

But that's just our day job, we can do other things in our spare time like improve our standard of living or study art and science or search for a higher meaning.

The penalty of sin is death, right? Before the Garden of Eden incident, nobody would die. Now, God uses reproduction as a way of keeping the human race alive, even though the same people won't be around. The point of living? To worship God.

In my religion we believe that all people lived in the spirit world with Heavenly Father and Jesus before coming to earth.
The way they come to earth is to be born and gain a physical body.
During our time on earth we learn and live our lives as a test in order to return to live eternally with our Heavenly Father and his son, our brother, Jesus Christ.
That is the purpose of having and raising children, and with the hope that both the parents and children will live their lives worthy to live eternally together.
