The huge crusade for people hyping stem cell research. Where's the proof anything beneficial can be gained. They used to talk about the great things nuclear power would accomplish the fantastic educational benefits of television. The importance of the Internet. Really now....................

Bush has screwed up so many things because he is so busy trying to please the "RICH" people. Once again he has made another bad decision for America by the veto. I'm by no means rich and am sitting here waiting for a cure, that I will probably never see happen to me. And now, it will take even longer than what time I have. Thanks Bush!
Hopefully, in the next election we will have someone put into office that really does listen to the people and votes for the people instead of what the people who put money into his pocket say. If he is not going to allow research to continue, he better start looking fast at reforming our health plans and aide, and making them either more financially affordable or giving us the financial help we may need from time to time.
As far as it being a "pro-life" thing, a Dr in MN put it nicely when he stated that it is not a life yet, if it doesn't have a place to grow (the womb).
We all need to push to get this back to the White House (in a couple of years!!).

No, because he deprived American scientists of a crucial line of research based upon his fundamentalist Christian beliefs. Stem cells are obtained from young embryos at fertility clinics that would be otherwise DISCARDED. Why let those potenitally useful cells go to waste? It should be a crime. Even most of those in his own Republican party think he goofed big time on this veto... It's not a "pro-life" issue, even though they distorted it to look that way, because it makes no sense to halt research that may someday cure cancer, or diabetes, or some other disease that is devastating humanity to some degree because there is "potential" life in those cells. Think of the lives Bush may be costing by focusing on embryos that won't even come to recognize their full humanity because they are "left over...". It's a sad chapter for the American scientific community, IMHO. Other Christian nations aren't having this problem, after all...

NO, because if the USA stops research in any line of scientific advance, other countries will do the job and get a lot of advantage. Conservadurism is not the key to avoid problems, the best way to stay behind is doing nothing. If this trait becomes more used, then US investigation will wilt and die, then next thing, importing tech will be a common place in once the land of freedom.

No...Bush is allowing his religious beliefs to guide him instead of good ol' common sense.
He's an idiot and the country will be way better off when he's finally gone and (hopefully) someone with some forethought and a few more active brain cells takes over.
(maybe it will be someone who actually notices when the mic is still open. How many freakin' times is he going to do that?)

Considering 70% of those polled say they want this research, I'd say no. It's obvious to me that he has no one in his healthy family who is dying of some terrible disease, or has some debilitating illness that makes them suffer. So much good could come from the stem cells that are being thrown away anyway.

Politically Bush did by sticking to his campaign promises.
Personally I disagree and believe stem cells will take time to perfect, but prove VERY beneficial.

the moron always makes bad desicions, stem cell research could heal and cure some people but because certain religous groups feel it is not a moral thing to do then someone else has to die

No. -But at least he showed us why it's a good thing that he doesn't decide to use his veto pen much...- He doesn't have a clue. And I wouldn't give a gun to ANYONE who doesn't know how to shoot it. G.W.B. DID say something ONCE that I agreed with, - that he was a "bush" and not a "tree"! Boy- he wasn't kidding. ... :)
