I would try St John's Wart if you want to use something over the counter. You can buy it at many pharmacies and health food stores. I would also recommend you see a doctor or counselor, in case there is an underlying health condition thatss making you feel depressed.

Miss, if you're simply down and have a bad case of the blues, St. John's Wort may do the trick for you. Also, get some exorcise, some daily work out so you can break a sweat and breath hard. It works better than anything you can take. Soon you'll be right back on top.

If, on the other hand, you suspect that this is clinical depression, the only thing that's going to lift it is prescription medication. It's important that you see a doctor, preferably a psychiatrist, and be evaluated. Otherwise you run the risk of getting so far down it'll take you three hours to work up the initiative to take a bath, and some very unpleasant options will begin to occur to you for solving your problems. I promise, clinical depression is dangerous. That's from experience, not something I read in Reader's Digest.

I tried several medications for depression over the years and the few that helped the least bit gave me side effects that made matters worse.

Finally my nurse practitioner suggested St. John's wort. I really didn't think some herbal over the counter would do anything, but I was desperate.

I had immediate and dramatic results with zero side effects. For the first time in thirty years, I'm alive.

It can be purchased without a prescription and it's inexpensive. I just paid $4.50 (on sale) for a 3-month supply; I had been taking over medication that cost over $100 a month and since it wasn't working, they were going to add another anti-depressant that would have jacked the price up to well over $200.

A friend swears by tryptophane which recently became legal again: it's available on the internet. I prefer knowing I can walk into any drug store or health/nutrition store and find St. John's wort.

1) If you get depression during your hectic work, just stand up from your chair, stand erect, close your eyes for 1 minute, fold your hands in front of your chest (as indians say namasthe) Rub both the hands genely, without applying much pressure. Do that for a minute. The Depression caused due to the hectic work is away.
2) If you are at home, simply lay down, your back and toes touching the ground, and both your hands touching the thighs. Feel light. Close your eyes, Take long an deep breaths for five minutes. (if possible, do this with some melodious music). Depression is gone.
3) If you have half a day's time. First get a head massage done at a parlour (Saloon), if it is possible, and then, If you are an Indian, you woud know about "Navrathna Thel" other wise use Ground Nut Oil, (preferably warm the ground nut oil on the previous day with REd Chillies, and before using the Red chillies can be smashed into the oil, and filter it ) Don't worry it will not burn you as many people think. Apply it on your head (you need atleast 100 to 150 ml. of oil) Give your head a massage. IIf possible applly it on the entire body. Rinse your head for about 20 to 25 minutes. Take a long bath with Shampoo, Shikhakai Powder (Beatle Nut powder). so that the leftover oil of your body goes away. You can also apply this oil inside your eyes, eye lids minutes before your going for a bath. (Head massage in the saloon is not compulsory)

Eat hygenic and delicious food of your best choice, slightly more than the quantity that you will otherwise take.

Have a sound sleep for 2 to 3 hours. (I do it once in the week end)

Depression is gone.

you dont need drugs you just need to talk to somebody im not suggesting counseling just talk to friends, family, the person at the gas station doesnt really matter express your feelings. you can try caffeine but the effects will die off and you will feel crappy and unmotivated again leading back to feeling depressed instead try doing something active walking, weight lifting, yoga, snapping yo fingas what ever and listen to music that makes you feel happy the more physical activity you do the more endorphins you wil release which is the bodies natural antidepressant chemicals the hard part is getting motivated to do so this is what i do when times are rough but im no professional so you can try my advice but you should still see a physician. remember everyone gets in a slump hope you feel better uugggghhh i just read your profile sure doesnt seem like your depressed so whats the deal

there are no over the counter drugs that will help really. If you want to try herbal supplements then go right ahead. but if you do hav a serious problem you should see someone. if you are afraid of anti-depressants then a therapist would be great. she will try to help you by teaching you anxiety or stress reducing techniques. also excersice and talking to someone you trust can also be very helpful. you might be able to alleviate your depression without taking any medications.
