The planes are painted grey because that is the colour of the paint that the Air Force invented that somehow makes the planes less visible to heat-seeking missiles. No idea why ships are painted grey, maybe because if the paint wears off all we see is grey hull.

Its called haze grey for a reason.. In the distance, on the horizon, and on the deep sea, everything turns..grey. ships and aircraft blend into the haze more easily when they are painted haze grey.

Hence the reason Coast Guard ships are white and orange.. they stand out, and you WANT to be able to find them when they are out doing search and rescue ops.

come on now something tells me your playing game with me you do not know why? they are painted gray to bland in with battle conditions and gray is so drab on the open seas and the ship is almost impossible to see in foggy weather and durring smoke screen too heck anything would.

Because they blend in and they are a dirty gey Cheap paint that is Government issued. Which is cheaper.. I hope.

Camo,and because they are uniform colors, clean and polished. The colors that are used are not used because of cost. My boyfriend is in the Navy so I learned this from him, I asked questions.

For camouflage and concealment because the sky is blue and the land from above is basically the same color.
