I have no insurance either so how much do they cost? The comercials on tv say that they're $100 but thats to much-I already spent 70 dollars for the perscription! Is there any thing below $80 dollars? and I don't like name brands!and the one who helps me gets ten points!

If you already have the prescription, you can go to a Wal-Mart with a Vision Center and they have some pretty economical frames, some moderately priced ones for around $57 and SOME even less than that... It's pretty good if you're on a tight budget...

I have had to wear eyeglasses since I was two years old, and have been dealing with many doctors and prescriptions all of my life. When I was younger, my glasses were hundreds of dollars per pair, because I had several eye operations and had very specialized lenses. The lenses at that time were glass only and could only be ground at a few labs world wide. Once I grew up and plastic lenses became more available, this helped with the cost. I have purchased glasses through both doctors' offices and the vision care center at Walmart in the last few years, and the quality is identical. The important part of the whole procedure is the exam and the prescription itself. Walmart actually has some frames that are in the $25 to $30 range, so that will help keep the cost down for you. Your eyesight is very important. Let the techs who work there help you find something that will work for you. There are many people who do not have insurance and the techs there deal with customers who are living on a tight budget all the time. Best of luck to you!

If you are on a really tight budget, I would check with some place like Catholic Charities. You don't have to be Catholic. I'm a school teacher, and I hear of them helping people all of the time. If that doesn't work for you, call the Public Aid office in your area. they may be able to direct you to some place that can help. Your health and welfare is very important. If you are unable to function, then it is difficult to be a productive citizen. Give those places a call, and explain your circumstances.
You don't even have to choose me as the best answer. I just want you to get the glasses you need. Take care!

I work for an optometrist and you are most likely not going to be able to find any glasses for under $80 you need to just save up at least twenty more dollars and look for specials. Sears will occasionally run a complete pair of glasses for $99 but if that doesn't work see if there is a lions club near you and they can typically help you get a free pair of glasses from second hand frames.

You can find cheaper quality glasses for the amount you stated. Consider yourself lucky Ive been wearing glasses/contacts for awhile and the price has really come down since I first started! 70 dollars for the perscription isnt a bad price either. Check your local weekend paper usually you can find some deals advertised there too.

Your best bet would be to visit a "VISION CENTER", they can be found in places like Wal-Mart or The Malls. I know it may sound cheesy, but hey, there cheap and they are legitamate.
Type in Vision Center in your search engine and you'll find some locations near you.
