As some you may know part of global warming is another ice age now scientists say there is a good possibility we can still be alive to witness this event other than me who on here thinks it would be wicked awsome to be around for the ice age

An interesting question – it seems daft that warming could cause an ice age, but that is what some scientists predict may happen.

The thinking goes like this:

The planet will not get warmer evenly – some parts will get much warmer while others may not. If the oceans get a bit warmer then there will be more evaporation of water. The more water evaporates the more rain and snow there will be (what goes up must come down!)

Near the North and South poles this means more snow. The area of snow and ice will therefore get bigger and spread.

At the moment it seems that this theory may not be correct! So far as the Earth seems to be warming over the last few years the polar ice caps seem to be shrinking with giant pieces of ice breaking off from Antarctica.

This is only one of many theories – the fact is no one knows for sure what will happen, it’s one giant experiment with us as the guinea pigs. Unfortunately, scientist use Cryosat satellite to monitor sea levels, ice caps and climate change. They have found the evidence about ice melting trend and decreasing. By the time we find out what happens for sure, it will be very difficult to do anything about stopping it. It is because people dont believe in science, history, reasearch, reports and case studies. In addition people expects mother nature to perform miracles while at the same time polluted the air and sky even more!

the last time heat produced an ice age, it was at the end of another ice age, and there was a LOT of ice in canada...

Let me explain. During ice age 1, canada was completely covered with ice. At the end of ice age1, ice started to melt and formed a giant lake separated from the atlantic ocean by a thin wall of ice. The wall of ice broke, and all the water got into the ocean, reducing it's salt concentration A LOT (since it was ice-water, it didn't contain any salt)

unfortunately, the gulf stream needs normal salt concentration in north atlantic to flow properly, so the gulf stream stoped abruptly, and therefore stoped warming up europe and california (and what's behind them). because of that, temperatures falled again and ice was formed in northatlantic to keep the gulf stream stoped. an ice age 2 then started.

now, do we have the same conditions to stop the gulf stream if heat keeps rising? Well, canada isn't a big block of ice anymore... But groenland and arctica MIGHT BE enough to slow the gulf stream to destabilize the weather and get another ice age.

So enjoy the heat and warmth while you still can.

This is an unproven hypothesis.
They say that the Gulf Stream may siese to function and the United Kingdom will get much colder in winter.

They cannot prove this.

I think that this is very unlikily to happen.

If your talking about the world freezing, then I think you have been watching to many movies like "The day after tommorow".
