It seems we'd get more votes that way and less excuses for poor turn-out. What say you?

Yes, it should be on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday with all absentee votes due prior to that Tuesday.

This allows everybody with different schedules to be able to vote.

I don't know if it should be 3 days long, but if it were a weekend, that would help.

One of the biggest problems is not how long it is, but whether or not, with the changes in time zones from Maine to Hawaii, there should be a media blackout from poll results until it is 8 p.m. in Hawaii. That way a news crew from CNN couldn't call an election before the Hawaiian polls even open.

I think you would have more votes cast if the elections were in the summertime rather than in Nov. when it is colder and rainier in the west and snowier in the north and east.

But the biggest problem still is the fact that, when it is 8 p.m. in the east, California, Oregon and Washington voters are just getting off work and heading to the polls to vote. Conceivably, they could hear a news reporter calling a state for one side or the other before the west has had a chance to drive up to the fire station to vote.

We already have more than 3 days to vote. In most states voters have a 15 day early voting period to vote prior to the election. IN Tennesse early voting begins 20 days prior to the election and ends 5 days before.

Not necessarily. However there would be a larger turnout if an election day was held on a Saturday instead of a Tuesday.

Why not? The campaigning takes about 18 months, so what's 1 or 2 days more...........

Three days can be allowed if it is provided for under the law. The danger there is there might be padding or cheating.

No, but should be a paid day off, provided you can prove to your employer that you did vote.
