I am not getting many answers I would like opinions on Kias if you have any. IF you OWN one how do you like it? I am looking at the Kia Sorento. Why does the resale value drop so drastically after a few years?

They are extremely safe though! I figured people didn't like them, you don't see many on the road. I have talked to two close friends though that say they love their kia and wouldn't exchange it for anything!

Our Honda and Toyota basher is woefully misinformed. Kias are absolutely horrible. I'm a lemon law investigator and expert witness and work for lawfirms that help consumer sue vehicle manufacturers, since most manufacturers (Kia included) won't step up and do the right thing, as prescribed by law, in lemon law and breach of warranty situations.

Out of 7500 cases in 6 years, 1800 of them have been on Kia and Hyundai products. The rest were on everything else produced in our nation and sold in the 6 states I work out of...Kia and Hyundai vehicles, though, account for less than 5% of sales of all cars in these 6 states, but right at 25% of the lemon law cases.

Several major automotive lenders announced policies pertaining specifically to Kia products where the vehicle loan value would be only 80% of wholesale “book” value. This was done to protect the lenders from a vehicle with a bad reputation, as most other vehicles allow loans of 100% – 120% of wholesale, and sometimes retail, value.

Also, Kia and Hyundai are the ONLY vehicle manufacturers/retailers in our nation who have agreements with Mannheim Auctions, LLC for special “lemon lanes”, where their over-abundance of lemon law-repurchased vehicles are sold in special lanes on special days at auctions. No other manufacturers have enough defective vehicles flowing through the auctions, even huge groups like GM, Ford, and Chrysler, to warrant a special agreement like this. Because of this fact, Kia/Hyundai vehicles are excessively scrutinized by educated/informed appraisers and consumers.

^^^ Do you know what you are talking about? Have you seen anything Hyundia(Kia) is doing as of the past 5 years? Why would you spend 5k more on something just as reliable, with a worse warranty, and inferior build materials? Oh yeah, thats right, the Honda or Toyota badge. I hear that makes the car 10x more reliable, 10x more efficient, and each badge you put on adds 11hp. Oh, and I'm not a Hyundai fan boi like some of you Honda/toyota folks are, I dont own a Hyundai and never will. That class (midsize sedan designed for comfort and mpg) doesn't suite me. However, from someones perspective who sees the cars without a BADGE it doesn't make much sense to purchase the Toyota or Honda.

Take the badges off, just look at the cars for their features, reliablity ratings, MPG, and cost...

I have a KIA and I have to agree that they suck. They are terrible cars that have major transmission problems. And just try getting them honor a warranty. At least 3 websites that tell the truth about Kias. Seriously, do not buy one.

Cheap Junk. The retail value goes down because a lot of things go wrong with them. If you would like a good priced car, go with a base model toyota! They will run forever, keep their value, and start at decent prices! ( Also kia offers such a good warranty... but what they don't tell you is there is a $500.00 deductible )

Kias are cheap because they are built from cheap parts. The resale values are so drastic because the parts are cheap. These cars are built for people that want a new car without paying alot for them. If you pay dirt cheap for a vehicle-you get dirt cheap performance and reliability.

No resale value at all. they are hard to find parts for and are basically what is known as "disposable" cars. You drive them until they quit and go get another. The banks will not offer much to finance a used one because of this.
