If you _stole_ a pen that was _free_, that would be a really pathetic loser thing to do. Because yes, it's stealing, and you stole it from a bank, so yes it's a bank robbery

Why not take up knitting, or read a book to a nice elderly person, or otherwise do something worthwhile.

Not from an FBI point of view. But the local PD might get you for petty theft if the bank takes the time to press charges. How do you know they didn't WANT you to take the pen? Did you do it on purpose or was it an accident? Very funny question!!
