Why don't you sit down with your mom and tell her your feelings for your son? I mean you want to raise him, so let her know. If that doesn't work, contact people-finder.com .

I would begin by petitioning the court for visitation rights. Once you establish in a courtroom that your sons whereabouts are unknown, a host of options will open for you. Your attorney can best advise you on how to locate your son and get visitation started. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, contact your local Legal Aid office http://www.abanet.org/legalservices/probono/directory.html
and check into your options regarding having an attorney do this pro bono for you. If you don't currently have partial custody, you might petition the court for some custody rights which will make it easier for you to end up with full custody should his mother die. Child custody and visitation and the child's whereabouts are all regulated by our legal system. Start there and good luck!

If you can afford it, you could try hiring a private detective to look for your ex. You should also explain to your mother that if your son's mother dies then he might end up in foster care unless she gives you the chance to reconnect with him.

contact the social security dept. Nowdays all kids have to have a social security number. If you know his first and last name and place of birth it shouldnt be that hard to locate him.
