you are right to be concerned, because milk is a MAJOR source of many essential nutrients.
you can, however, use dry milk powder to add into your hamburger/meat loaf recipes, offer him cheeses, string cheese, mac and cheese with added dry milk powder stirred into the milk you make it with, pudding, likewise you can add extra dry milk powder to the instant mixes, which are really quick to stir up...even add the dry milk powder into the parmesan cheese for spaghetti if he likes that. give him a break from milk for 3-5 days and then try reintroducing it, maybe add strawberry or chocolate flavorings. yogurt is another good source; and you can melt cheese slices on top of many foods by just zapping it in the microwave a few seconds. be creative and enthusiastic about foods, but don't try to force him to eat anything or to clean his plate...just always offer him good choices. don't even buy junk chips/crackers/sodas and the like, he really needs good foods and at his age every serving counts. you can put cottage cheese with dry milk powder through the blender and offer it as a raw veggie dip.
I applaud you for your concern and care for your little guy.
many blessings,
aunt cryllie

Ok C P R is just stupid. There is nothing wrong with cow milk. Does he have a favorite super hero? If so tell him if he drinks his milk he will grow big and strong just like him. Or try some chocolate or strawberry mix ovaltene is good for them. Or buy him a special cup something he really likes and tell him he only gets to drink out of it if he drinks his milk.

My 3 year old and my 17 month old love their chocolate milk every morning. They both drink at least 2 cups before and during breakfast. Good Luck!

flavor the milk - chocolate is probably the most nutritious. If he still refuses then buy a supplement and let him drink lots of fruit juice - do not give him too much citrus though. Apple and pear are best - and guava for vit C. Also try him on mild cheese's and soya based products.

Feed him those pedia shakes. Kids love the strawberry and chocolate flavor. Does he eat yogurt? Cottage cheese, cheese at all? Make sure he takes a multivitamin (ask your pediatrician), and relax, the calcium doesn't have to come from milk. It can come from a variety of sources. You can blend it into his other food. Pudding made with MILK, Mac and CHEESE, mashed potatoes with MILK, potato salad with non-fat YOGURT. Best of all they don't even realize all the nutrition they're getting... they think they are having frappes, malts and milkshakes. :)

My 17 month old refuses milk in a sippy cup. She takes it in her cereal in the morning (toddler flakes), and throughout the day she has yogurt (she LOVES the drinkable stuff with a straw), eats string cheese, mac-n-cheese etc. That's enough to meet their calcium and vitamin D needs.

I would maybe try giving him milk with Ovaltine mixed in? Then, if he likes it, slowly cut back on the Ovaltine until he can drink it white. Or stick with Ovaltine! My daughter lived on the stuff when she was little also. Didn't hurt her, she's a straight A student now at 11 yrs old.

so what does he drink? too much juice can cause weight gain. pop has no nutrition, water? try silk soy chocolate, its fortified like milk. why would you stop feeding your child? offer healthy foods, stay away from junk. a handful of potatoe chips at this age and a cup of juice fills up a toddler like if we had a steak and potato, except the kid is just getting fat and sugar.
