I believe a dog can always learn something new. I am looking for a new trick for my 6 year old dog. He gets bored with the same old same old and needs new stimulation.

Yes, of course! Sometimes it's more difficult because lies baggage gets in the way. Using a clicker makes it much easier though.
I recently taught my 10 year old to ring a bell, "drive" a digger ( sit in the drivers seat anyway!) and dance with me. It's great fun and sooooooo good for your dog.

I teach my 10 year old dog new tasks every couple of months, just to keep her sharp and supple
It keeps them from getting too set in their ways,.

My 7 year old loves to learn new things and show off.
