I used to swear I'd never fall for the commercialism and buy stuff like "Dora cereal" or "Scooby Doo yogurt." But then I find myself going ahead and buying this stuff because my daughter is crazy about it. I'd love to hear other parents' stories of pre-parenting resolutions gone 'bad.'

Back then I swore that when I have children, I would let them watch 1 hour a week of T.V. and no more than that. Well, sure enough there are those days when I let them watch 2 or 3 hours in a day. I heard that too much television was bad but when I need to do something important with no interruptions, I just turn on Dora. It is magic! I didn't know there was Dora cereal???? Gotta go get some, my daughter is crazy about her too.

When I was young, I thought my parents were the most cruel people in the world and I always thought I would be the cool parent and never stop my kids from going out with their friends. I swore I would trust my children with everything.
Now I am the most stern mother out there. I am extremely over protective and my children are raised in a very strict home.....

Sorry for all the stuff I put you through Mom and Dad!!!! LOVE YOU and boy do I understand now....(just like you told me I would :))

It took me having my own baby to comprehend that usually, somewhat one merely needs to suck & they can't continuously make certain their thumb out. My son is 7wks previous & he's merely now determining that his thumb is there. 2. I swore i'd not in any respect co-sleep. For the first 4wks my son slept excellent next to me. genuinely, he used his crib once, for 3hrs, the day he got here homestead from the health center. once he realized he had palms he hated being swaddled & would throw a in nice condition so he's been unhappy in his crib ever considering the fact that. he's now slumbering in his provider next to my mattress because i don't have room for, or maybe own, a bassinett. 3. "Because I said so!" I HATED when I mom would say that. I have found myself saying that a few times :( I have decided to just give the most honest reason I can. Hopefully if I'm up front and truthful my kids will be the same with me.

I swore I would never tell the younger sibling that they have to wait until they are older to do what another sibling is allowed to do. I hated when my mother told me that but I had to say it to one of the kids because he could not be on the competetive swim team until he was 9 and his brother was on it.

It killed me to say it.
