My daughter has a Sidekick 2 right now and she was begging for a Sidekick 3 but when we went to the store she started begging for this other phone from Helio. And when i asked the lady in the counter if the phone from Helio was good for a twelve year old girl. And she said no it's not, it has no insurance and it has bad reception and i suggest you wait untill the Sidekick 3 is delivered to our store. But later my daughter told me that the lady who works there is wrong and it has excellent reception and that she did research on the Helio phone and she really wants it. And she also added that the lady wants her to get the Sidekick 3 instead cause it's more expensive and that lady wants more money. All i said was i'll find you a pretty phone. But I don't know what to do because looks like the only thing she wants is the Helio phone. I'd really appreciate it if someone helps.

The lady that works at the cell phone store suggested that she doesn't get the helio phone because there's been many complaints about it's bad reception for those of you asking again.

i wish i was your daughter!! i want the sidekick 3 soo bad!!

what you coudl do is do some research on your own, compare the phones and see which one you think might suit her best.

then again if the other phone is cheaper and your daughter REALLY wants that one... i suggest jsut get it. Shes not gonna be very happy if you dont take her wants into consideration, but you are the parent.

good luck

Instead of buying her a new phone when the Sidekick 2 is still a relatively new phone with great features, why not take the money you intended to spend on the phone and open a college savings account for your daughter? Remember, an education is one of the greatest gifts you can give your child, not a cell phone!

To be honest....a 12 yr old with a better cell phone thatn mine? When you think about it- she's young- she's likely to drop it, break it, or want something even newer and more expensive in a matter of months. Granted i got a cell phone when i was about that age- but it was the most basic nokia available. My parents told me if i wanted a better phone, i had to work for it and pay for it myself. And i did, and now i have a very nice phone. (Ok, so it's not a sidekick or anything- those are pointless...) I personally think you're daughter should just appreciate what she has and stop complaining. It's just a phone!!!

as the other answerer said - have her show you the research.

no research exists saying what she says ?
then she absolutely does not get the Sidekick 3 OR the Hello.

YOU decide what are the appropriate functions for her to have on her phone AND what you think is a reasonable amount to pay.

No offense, but it sort of sounds like you need to find a way to start being the decider.

First of all, you should do the research yourself. If Helio is a piece of crap, you have to stand your ground or find a suitable alternative or hope that when she sees the Sidekick 3 that she'll change her mind.

Go with your instincts and get the phone you think is appropriate for her. If she doesn't like it, she doesn't have to have a phone. Be her Mom and stop trying to be her best friend. She is manipulating you and making you not trust your parental instincts. Go with your instincts. The fact that you asked this on line says you knew she was giving you a story.

Your 12 year old has a cell phone? Wow. If there is nothing wrong with her current phone, Let her keep using it it. Why replace something that isn't broke.

Look at her research. Make a note of who it was done by. Look it up yourself, or ask someone who has these phones.

But since your bringing home the bacon, it's your call ultimatley. But... Uhm... My cellphone calls people? I was looking at these other cellphones.. DO they actually call people? and where do I put my ear to hear them? XD I'm joking! : )
