Cutting is a way for people to feel like they are in "control" of their bodies and also to validate to themselves that they are real and can feel pain. You're right it's a way of expressing their pain.

The cuts are usually way too shallow to do any lethal damage and I don't think the person cutting themselves has the thought of wanting to kill themselves.

Yes, to some degree. You're right that cutters don't WANT to kill themselves. They usually do it as an escape. They'll say they do it to "feel alive" or to release their pain.
They are in need of help but don't know a productive way to attain that help.

People who slit their wrists are doing so to either kill themselves or to get attention. Most are usually looking for attention, as most do not succede in actually killing themselves. Only a small percentage actually die from their self-inflicted wounds.

People who cut themselves are not trying to kill themselves, but they are trying to release pain. Someone who slits their wrists is making a half hearted suicide attempt. That method is more of a cry for help, but it is an attempt unlike cutting. You are correct.

there is a study that shows that those who cut are more than likely sexually abused either by a bf or gf or a family member. It is a false psychological way of releasing the pain and being numb. Today, though, it is an attention getter. My friend cut herself, then showed it to her mom and said, "I hope your happy" but she wasnt depressed. Those who end up slitting their wrists are the ones you didnt know who had problems. They dont want the attention.

I do agree but think there is far to many alternatives for releasing pain . I don't think anyone who realizes this should give them the right to hurt them-self and leave marks on the body they carry for life in most cases.

Agreed. Bleeding yourself actually gives you a kind of high. Makes you woozy and numb. That's why people slit their wrists, coz it's not painful.

If somebody attempts suicide and fails, then they werent meaning to do it in the first place. If someone wanted to commit suicide-FOR REAL- then they wouldnt fail. People that cut themselves do it strickly for attention, and its a kind of personality disorder, an illness they need to seek professional help

People do that sort of thing. For attention. If they meant to kill themselves. They would.

I dont know what these people are thinking the only thang I can say is they need help to stop because that is one of the most stupidest, and unsafe things they can do.

When a person gets really angry they want to hurt someone, but they know that they can't hurt other people, so they hurt themselves. That's my theory.
