would i gain weight exactly the same if i consumed it with normal food? i hear things like negative calories and the amount of energy your body uses to burn certain food (where fruit and veg burn more energy) but i don't know...

Negative calories is a myth. They say that celery has negative calories because you burn calories while chewing but in reality, you would have to chew the same stalk for 11 minutes to break even.

The only way to lose weight is to consume less than you burn. It doesn't matter (as far as losing weight) what you eat, as long as you comsume less than you burn. The difference is that the healthier the food, the more you get. For example, one bag of peanut m&ms is 250 calories... wouldnt 5 small peices of fruit be more filling?? Also, you could lose weight eating empty calories like candy just the same as fruit and veggies, but your body would be depleted of nutrients and you would eventually get sick.

The most important thing in losing weight is to make sure you are eating enough calories.. too little is just as harmful to weight loss as too many.
