can someone explain why muslims believe that jesus was not crucified but was switched with someone who looks like him. Basically if they believe this, then that means that person that was crucified died for our sins and not jesus.

Jesus didn't die for your sins (because there is no such thing as "sin") he died because he spoke the truth about God. By saying that people had the ability to speak to God themselves because they are Gods. He died because nobody believed what he was saying was the truth. What Jesus said was, "if you cannot believe in the power with in yourselves, believe in me."

Mohammed was not an educated man. He envied the peoples of the book, Christians and Jews. So when he first started out he praised Jesus. Then after it was discovered that his "revelation" contradicted the Christian scriptures they had to come up with a new excuse for how Mohammed could all at once be praising Jesus and contradicting him. This lame excuse is the best they could do. Even the Jews and Romans who both were against Jesus acknowledge historically that he was crucified. His own mother was right there. The disciples who had traveled everywhere with him saw him. If they were not convinced that this was Jesus and also that he rose from the dead, they would not have been willing to die. They would have all just gone back to their regular lives. Roman historians tell us that they did not.
So much for Mohammed getting his info from God

Muslims believe that Jesus was a man, not the son of god. Since he was not divine in any way, there could be no trickery on god's part.

If a not-Jesus person was crucified and died and was not the son of god, that person did not die for anyone's sins because that person does not have the divine mandate to take anyone's sins away from them.

They are not trying to refute that someone was crucified, so they have to claim that it wasn't Jesus who was. If they admitted that, the basis for their faith wouldn't be valid due to the Muslim's esteem for Muhammad. They do believe that Jesus was a prophet and teacher, that doesn't conflict with Islam. Try to get a copy of the Koran to read and explore what they believe and even ask someone who is Muslim about the basis for this belief.

Because they also do not believe that Jesus is God. That is how false teachings come about. They twist the truth around to fit what suits them instead of accepting the truth for what it is. If Jesus wasn't God, then He wouldn't need to die for our sins. If you don't believe one of those things, you certainly won't want to believe the other either.

The Muslims want to believe that you make it heaven purely on your own good works.

Because a Muslim believes that Jesus was just a prophet.

It is not muslims. Jesus being the magician he was could have duped his persecuters. It is simply not possible to rise from the dead. Jesus knew this and had to stage-manage his death. He even admits it when he suppossedly raises Lazarus. He said Lazarus was sleeping, and indeed he was asleep not dead.

why do you care? i think you are misinformed. i can assume you have not read the Koran. If you really want to know what they believe, take a class, or read the Koran. YA won't help you answer this question -- it only breeds more disrespect among different religions. Educate yourself.
