I think a cubit is 18 inches and a span is half a cubit.
Goliath was six cubits and a span tall (1 Samuel 17:4); that's (18 * 6) + 9 inches, or 117 inches (9 feet 9 inches) tall.
That's pretty damn tall.

Goliath was over 9 feet tall. Shaq is only 7 feet.

Yes, Goliath was a "Giant" in the ancient history if the people once known as the "Philistines". The Bible says: "And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span." A "cubit" in the Bible is equivalent to 18 inches...and a "span" is 3 inches. This translates therefore into 9'3" (9 feet,3inches) in height...taller than the ceilings of most homes, which average 8 feet in height. Goliath was so large in fact, that he also had "six" fingers and "six" toes on every hand and foot...which you would need at that great height and body-weight. See 1st Samuel 17:4 in your Bible...or if you don't have one...BUY ONE...or get one for FREE from any Bible Church or any decent Christian you may know...which is the duty of every Christian: to hand out the Word of God where they see the need and are able to fill it.

Maybe. According to some reasearch Goliath was said to be 9 feet tall. So I guess so.
BUt Shaq can't shoot free throws so who cares?
